Damn Kenny ... you have built or helped build some of the sickest quads out there .

I got a question for you , since you know enough about this kind of stuff and I'm sure you get plenty of feedback from other riders .

I got a YFZ450 ... I'm in the market for a pipe right now ... full system... I'm going to do mostly riding fast fire roads , doing a bit of woods riding and pit riding . What would be your suggestion on a pipe or what are most of the guys giving you good feedback on ? I don't want something as loud as a TC .... but I'd still like something with a bit more of a thump to it than a stocker with the baffle pulled out .

Thanks ,
Greg

right now HMF is hard to beat for price, quality etc. if you can hold off i believe hmf is about to release a new pipe that will be under the db limit for the ama and should be able to have a spark arrestor for the foresty folks.

aint done yet either. we will be tearing into a 450R tomarrow and a brand new one will be ripped apart around the new year. one will be a budget build, the other a build most everyone can do.

both will roll out looking like a million , that you can bank on:D

Thanks for the info ..... I'm biting at the bit to get a pipe ( maybe cuz I'm bored and want to spend $$) . :blah:

The new projects sound interesting . It's nice to see machines being built , that the average guy can go out and do themselves . I hated it when the aftermarket frame stuff was around .... cuz only an "elite" few are able to spend $30 000 American for a top race quad ( 30Gs would have been like $55 000 Canadian... the price of a small house) .

Any plans on building up another YFZ in the near future??

I have no doubts in my mind , that both these quads will be beauties .

ill check and see if i still have more pics of that yfz.

he did basically everything, redvien frame and lowers, sub frame and all the brackets were black. calipers etc..all done.

he is running full elka suspension with the elka linkage and burgard +3 a arms, new style ball joint. burgard stem, tag bars , hipers etc.

not bad for a 15 year old farm boy that aint skeert to work for what he wants!

technically trans colors are as strong as any other color of powdercoat until you get into the epoxy line.

but it is my expierence that if it is going to have problems it will no matter what color you use. i have stopped doing certain parts in trans colors because of durability or the plain and simple fact they are just to hard to do correctly consistantly:p

pappy you seem to be using alot of white plastics on the quads latly how well do they hold up? im just lovin the 450r

Pappy
03-29-2005, 08:55 PM
i prefer white, ive had it get scuffed but not fade and too me thats important. i hate black or red, it turns white after a few good rides:(

the best news is that companies are making better quality plastic and people are taking better care with regards to what cleaner they use

04-28-2005, 02:44 PM
how do you keep white quads from the scuffs that collect dirt? i ride alot of tracks and the scuffs in my new plastic just collect the dirt.

Pappy
04-28-2005, 03:49 PM
with white, i can get away with using harsher cleaners in the scuffed areas and a sturdy brush. upclose you can still see its scuffed but the majority of the dirt can be removed. i mainly use simple green full strength and a few washings etc. if im really cleaning a scuffed area i sometimes will reove teh fenders, mix up a solution of bleach and spray the area and scrub till she is clean.

The blue framed R with one industries graffics is mine. Pappy hooked it up two winters ago. I'll be doing the bottom a-arms in the blue this winter along with maybe a couple other goodies. Looking to get the top arms chromed. The frame was mint like Pappy said, but I'm glad I went with the blue!!
