Banshee VS 400 EX

i've got a banshee my self (stock) and the only way a 400 ex keeps up whit the banshee is because the banshee just spin on pave like your 400ex spin on durt so..............when the banshee hooks up away he goes....



and for the 450 r.. till 3 gear were side by side....after 3 gear away i go.......and the YFZ 450 i never tried im

but a banshee with a set of pipes ... nothing is close of beating it yet.....

I have a Q? for you guys. a 500EX with eveything vs. a shee with pipes in a drag race on pavement. who would win?

A 500ex, with an agressive cam, high compression ratio, head porting and a different carb will. But a banshee with internal work will smoke that (been there done that!)


If your a talentless panzy, that doesn't know how to ride the ex will eat you alive. Personalize your machine, learn how to ride it. And you will be competition to anyone, on anything. All that extra hp you have over ex's will come in handy once you learn how to harness it.

Buy some t5's, save up for some porting and head work from a reputable builder,reeds,timing key,k/n pods, and the piped banshee, yfz, and 500ex will be eating your dust.

no it's not since you can't race a banshhe cause it's to big (cc). and can't beat them in a drag maybe but not on the track or in the woods

I have alot done to mine, and unlike alot of guys on this board will back up what I say. I just get tired of *****'s saying that banshee's aren't any good at trail riding, or woods racing.

The only thing that sucks about my bike is with the porting and bigger carbs is that it's hard on gas.

Well I am not saing anithing bad about the Shee it's just that a stock shee won't be able to beat a 500ex in a drag race. As far as a all out shee...well that it different.

I know its one of my favorite bikes. I like cleanshaves 440 too, but it doesn't mean that just because its an ex it will take me through the woods or any of that hoopla.

You can make your shee quick with a proflow and a k/n, pipes, milled head, and a timing advance. Porting makes a huge difference when your ready for it.

If your stock, you'll be at a dissadvantage.

i already ordered some toomey T6 and delta vforce reed .......thats for this summer ......and the porting might come but only if my friend give me a hard time with his 500 ex ......what do u think i willl do against that 500 ex

I definately have to disagree with you about the part when you said no ex would beat your banshee in the woods. I would bet alot of money on this little debate, that the ex WOULD in fact walk off and leave a banshee in the woods. Been there, done that. The banshee is to high geared and not even a new sprocket would save it.

don't know haven't seen it, but I would probably say that the banshee, being that it has outstanding acceleration, would probably take the cake.

it's not that it spins to much it's that there is no bottom end and that it what you need in the really tight woods.

both are good machines
400ex more of a motocross machine where as the banshee is more of a hill shooter machine.. both are extremely well respected in our sport. both are great hill climbing bikes, imo i think you have a better chance climbing a hill with a banshee (but i used to own a 400ex , and it would climb just as much as a banshee could climb if the 400ex owner could ride it good enough) i may have confussed some people... lol

but anyhow
if you dont buy new
you can pick up a shee for 1500.00 90's model
ex for around 2000-3500 so you can buy both if you dont buy new:D

Yea i love my ex for tight trails and when it comes to wide open roads the shee's better but not by that much its not like he would totally dust me:)

The 500 will beat a stock shee everywhere. If I were you I'd get t5's if you ever plan on porting it. T6's are faster on a stock motor, but will not work with porting.

Being fast through the woods is rider ability, and knowing how to ride your machine fast through it. Mine is not stock, at all. It makes decent low end power, not as much as my built up thumpers. But it has so much more mid and top its rediculas. If you do everything but porting you stand a chance, otherwise he's gonna whoop ya on the big bore ex.

The banshee gearing is fine, its just not for lazy people that don't like to shift and use the clutch. Once you learn how to ride them, you end up loving them.

if you no how to ride a banshee...the bottom end is all in the cluth......thats what its for......is the power band is not there....for shure a 400ex will beat the shee.....other wise....the shee should take it..
