how many miles?

the truck has 120,000 miles on it and the money spent in the motor is nothing compared to the suspension and fiber,
air box mod=self
dual3" exhaust=350
456 gears=1800 for both axles installed

I own a 98 w/ the Vulcan. At first I thought.... "Hey, its a 6 how slow could it be"? Ive had the truck for 2 years, it aint gonna get better. 3 Liters of Cant-Get-Out-Of-Its-Own-Way. It sounds nice with a Flowmaster 40 series, but it didnt help that much power wise. Cold air intake did nothing but make it louder. Its a small 6, deal with like I have been. 2 more years and shes gettin traded in anyways. Only hope is to re-gear,but mines 4x4, Im not going into the front end of that mechanical nightmare.....

How much would an exhaust system that would help me out performance wise cost?

a full exhaust would give you about 15-25 horsepower with headers, dual exhaust, h-pipe or x-pipe, and flowmasters.

you can get different gears, a new chip, new induction cause stock ones always restrict it a lot more then high performance ones or whatever, i would get a k&n airfilter right now, new intake, bigger throttle body, then you can play with the fuel injection, bigger injectors if you get more air comin in, mass air flow sensor, more of the sensors

if you want to go into the engine your bottom end will be strong enough, you could get higher compression pistons, port and polish the heads, bigger valves, bigger cam, roller hydralic lifters, roller rockers.................................

I have a '91 Ford Ranger, wondering if I could throw a chip in that. Also, I was under it the other day(only had it a week;)) and decided to run it straight piped after the 2 cats. Would 1 high-flow cat be better than the 2 that are on there??

Here is my $900 dollar beast. So far I have put an Alpine deck in it, 2 MTX 6 1/2's, Radar detector, and all 3 new u-joints on the drive shaft. Also chopped the muffler off and it comes out in front of the rear right tire:cool:

Yeah it could use some work....I will probably sink a bunch into it this summer. Maybe a little motor work, a 4" lift, some 33's, dual exhaust and a better system;)

Therangerstation.com and rangerpowersports.com are about the best ranger sites available. I have am 04 with a 3 liter in it. I put a gibson exhaust on it and then did the drop in k&n filter. I also put a power pulley on it from DZK pulleys. They are a ranger station sponsor. It has a noticeable power gain from stock. The next thing that could be done is a chip or programmer. Bamachips.com makes a programmer that is highly recommended by the ranger sites. As soon as I get past the holidays I am going to get the programmer. They say gears make quite a bit of difference but that depends on what kind of driving you want and where you want your power. I am leaving my gears stock and right now i get anywhere from 14 mpg in the city driving hard to 25 mpg driving the speed limit out on the open road depending on if I push the pedal down or not. But those 2 ranger sites are the best I have found.
