This winter, my grandpa and I are going to put in a wiseco 11.1 piston (stock bore), stage 1 webcam, barnett clutch kit, did timing chain, and an fst oil cooler. If I do this right and then break it in right, how often will my quad break down? I dont want to jepordize my motor's dependibility, just get a little more power out of it. Also, do I need hardened rocker arms, and HD valve springs with the stage 1 cam? I have heard that I dont, but what does everyone think?

Should be very dependable and last all season with mods mentioned. Hotcam doesn't need springs and hardened rockers, making it more dependable.

with that setup, you should have to rebuild itabout every month or so...

nah you should be fine, with the webcams i think you need the HD springs and hardened rockers...just be careful with the clutch and oil cooler you gotta tapyour head which can be very bad

You only have to cut an oil line and tighten a few bolts for the oil cooler. As for the web cam they reccomend hardened rocker arms with every cam, but I doubt that I need them because everyone says that I should be fine with with stock arms and springs.

What do you mean by last "all season" I am hoping that it will last for 3 or 4 years with that stuff.

their talking about racing, racing a motor destroys them, running wide open all the time.

If your just riding it like I do you will be fine, it will last a long time.

I wouldn't do any mods to make my quad less dependable, I like it stock just the way it is.

So would you not reccomend the mods I am planning on doing? You also haveto remember that I ride with a lot of big bore quads so I just want a little more juice so that I can keep up a little easier.

I never run anything less than 93 octane. With these mods I am going to start running sunoco 94 octane ( not much of a difference but it doesnt cost much more at all)

I was thinking of putting the 11:1 stock size piston in mine too. I ride mine fairly hard, would i have to rebuild it very often with an 11:1 piston?

i run nothing but motocross and sometimes sand dunes i got just under 2 years out of my piston

But you also have a 440 big bore, that will take down the life a good bit.

This is driving me insane, all the old people in my family who used to mass with snowmobiles all the time are saying that I will be lucky to get 1 year out of my engine with the stuff I want to do. So I am thinking that they are wrong beacause thay messed with a lot of 2 strokes. I am pretty sure that I am going to do these mods. How much of a difference compared to stock will I feel?

you should be fine fo atleast 3 years if not more if well taken care of. most of the snowmobiles are 2 stroke and need to be rebuilt more often then 4 strokes....

Ya, thats what I figured. I know that 2 strokes blow up a lot more often, but i didnt know anything about snowmobiles.

Im pretty sure with those mods it will last you at least 2 years, your not boring, just adding more compression, most ppl bore it and add more compression, and theres still last 2+ years, so i would say as long as you take care of it, change the oil and what not it should last you a long time!

i would recommend staying away from barnett clutches go back with stock honda much more reliable.

Really? I have heard good things about barnett.I have had a bunch of people reccomend them to me because I am going to a higher compression that I should have more of a heavy duty clutch.
