Well i rolled over my 250x and now it clanks down low, i took the top end apart and the jug off, no sign of any damage up there. Ive been reading around and thinking it might be a timing chain, what u guys think? You think i should buy a new one and a tensioner? My other thought was maybe it was a bearing that was knocked loose, dunno, thanks fellers

i would just change the oil and adjust the valves. does it clank at lower speeds or down low in the bottom end? i don't think any damage was done to the engine, but that is just a guess.

yeah a crash should not make the motor sound diffrent.

if my old 250 had made a sound every time i crashed it...god that thing would be noisy...anyway i say just change the oil, maybe take the head apart and check for anything broken

i took the whole top end apart, and adjusted the valves before i tore it apart, it still did it. It sumthing in the bottom end. I was just wondering if it was the timing chain/adjuster. What u guys think from here?

heres a pic from the 250x, the top end is in great shape and is the crank. looks like it wasnt run too much. in the first pic, are the 250x/300ex head gaskets supposed to be triple stacks? seems weird to me.

Check for play in the cam chain, or you can look and see if there is any rub marks on the inside of your cylinder where youe chain rides. My 400ex wore a big part of it in mine.. Z
