Does anyone have any suggestions on a good gas shock that is fairly cheap for the front of my 2002 EX 400? Im planning on poss doing some hare scrambles next summer and id really like to get the quad to where is doesnt fatigue me so badly and handle a little better. The hare scrambles ill be riding have a good bit of motorcrossing and woods riding so Im having trouble choosing one or the other. Thanks:)

If you want cheap, then go with Works. If you want a high quality shock at an affordale price then look at the Elka Economy's

Welcome to the site :) As Jeff said works are better than stock shocks for a good price, Elkas ecomony shocks are inexpensive also and have better spings and shafts than the works, just make sure the shocks are set up for you and your riding style and you will be happy with either choice. :)
