spyware.

Try spybot search and destroy and or adaware! Another one is Hijack this, i have never used it but heard it works great. Also if you dont have one get a virus protector, AVG ( i think thats it ) is a good free virus protector. Certain sites such as some download sites (warez) or porn :p have tons of spyware and even scripts that can infect your computer with a trojan or virus so you have to be careful

When you first run it, you'll suprised how many little pieces of spyware are on your 'puter! I started using it about 2 weeks ago and I think my internet is faster now without all those little things reporting back to the "owner".

Adaware works good, but after you run it you should reboot and run it again. Also, Hijackthis is a powerful syware/adware remover but you need to be sure of what you are doing. There are allot of things it finds that you do not want to delete.

The best thing you can do is spend $50 and buy Norton Anti-Virus. It will help allot and cause less headaches. If you have broadband you are crazy not to buy an antivirus/firewall package.

DO NOT BUY NORTON ANTIVIRUS!!!!! The program is POS! It is way to big, bogs down your machine, and breaks a vast a majority of the time. Believe me, I work for an ISP, I see these problems with NAV on a DAILY basis!

Like LazeR said, download AVG from www.grisoft.com. Another good free program is Avast, www.avast.com.

As for spyware/maleware removal programs. I would strongly suggest having at least 2 spyware removal tools, which should be ran simultaneously. Each spyware removal tool will normally leave roughly 1/4 of the spyware on the machine. Spyware is smart, most pc users are not (not implying anything here:))

I also run Internet explorer 5 not 6. I hate 6. I think 6 has alot of spyware/adware or something...

Good call tp300ex.

Mozilla Firefox is a great browser. It has a built in pop-up stopper which works great! There are a number of features with this program that gives it superiority over Internet Explorer.
