I believe them to be random problems like all new things have. I to this date have not had any problems YET :) Good luck on your decision.

I use mine as a clothes hanger to dry out my riding gear, and the seat makes a good tool bench when working on something.

go ahead and get a trx. I haven't had any problems with mine. just broken bolts and stripped screws from over tightening. That's about it.

one more thing about the kick start.....is it ever hard to get started...

the first week or two it takes a couple kicks to fire up. but after that just one or two and it's real easy to kick sitting down. Just no gas when kicking it over, only full throttle when engine is flooded. The owners manual explains it real good.

I have a 04 only had it for a while but its really good overall, havent had problems yet.
For the most part the only reason most of these guys say its hard to start is because they dont have there bikes jetted right. then any quad will be harder to start. just my 2 cents:)

Mine's easy to kick over. I just said that the first week or two, when it's brand new and has never been started before, it takes a few kicks before it fires. You brought yours home and it fired right up on the first kick?

i like my quad alot the more i ride it the more im glad i didnt get a yfz, at first that was what i was going to buy until i got on yfz central and read about alot of the problems and i decided its faster than the 400ex im riding now and at least it isnt breaking down like the yfz, which the seem to have gotten right now, but i have no complaints i was really impressed with the mid range of the bike the first time i rode it, and my riding partner has a yfz and we swapped out the other day and im glad i got what i did!

i have not had 1 problem with the quad

i think the yfz has gotten there problems fixed and i've never had a problem with my 450r. It depends what you'll be using the bike for, but for trail riding or woods racing go with the 450r if your wanting something for some mx racing go with the yfz. either way you go you'll have a nice ride
