what oil weight is the best for hot weather. i was thinking 20/50w. thanks

that is what i used in summer in az, but it get up to 120 in the summer, but in nj (used to live there, and moving back) i dont think it is necessary, although it would be just as good a 10w-40, but 10-40 would be thinner. whatever you want. in fact, 10-40 throgh the winter and 2050 through the summer. good luck!

Don't use 10-40... one good ride in the summer and it feels just like water.. the 400's motor is very tough on motor oil!
I've been running 15-50 with no complaints so far...

What kind of oil do you use leo? Honda GN4?

mobil1 15w50 works great, even in the texas heat. i suspect that may be what leo is referring to, but he can correct me if i'm wrong.
yup, mobil 1 15-50 synthetic...
zero clutch problems...
I even run it in the winter, but I give the bike plenty of time to warm up (and I keep it in the basement, which is heated..)

i'm guessing you have some sort of direct access to the outside from your basement leo? that would be a biatch taken it up the stairs =P

this is from mobil1.com and is for motorcycles i hear its a great motor oiul for our quads its for use with wet clutches like ours and works well with high revving engines check it out!!
Okay. Let's start with Mobil 1 MX4T. What does it offer that Mobil 1 for cars doesn't?
Mobil 1 MX4T is designed for sport bikes. Most of these bikes have multi-cylinder/multi-valve engines and use a common sump, which means the engine oil lubricates the engine, transmission and wet clutch. So unlike Mobil 1 for cars, Mobil 1 MX4T has no friction modifiers, which could lead to clutch slippage.
The motorcycle oil also has more phosphorus/zinc for enhanced wear protection at high engine speeds and high loads. Remember, most bikes don’t have catalytic converters, so higher levels of phosphorus are not a problem.
In addition, Mobil 1 MX4T uses different dispersant/detergent technology for better high-temperature performance and engine cleanliness. Mobil 1 MX4T is also offered in a different viscosity grade than Mobil 1 for passenger cars.

I'm in NJ...and I use 20w-50 in the summer on my Banshee and my old 300ex. I'm not too far from Sayreville, wanna ride during Memorial Day Weekend?

I am Running Kendall Straight 40 Weight. I plan on Running it Year Round. What do you Guys think of that. Is a Straight Oil Thicker?

didnt you guys read my post? go to mobil1.com and read about the nmotorcycle oils! youre not supposed to use a car oil in a bike! you can if ya want some huys do but they just arent designed for the same thing we have sump engines and wet clutches and all kinds of really expensive gadgets in our engines that need a litlle more help and motorcycle oils are made for that! you go take a bottle of youre regualr car oil and a bottle of that mobil one cycle oild put em in youre freezer and the car oil sounds like peanut butter and the mobil one like water its great stuff!
