So, every winter there is radar runs on ice, I've got my 416 this year with my fcr39 and what-not. Well I was wondering if I compensated by bumping up the jetting reasonably if it'd be alright to remove the airfilter, and intake boot and just clamp on a few layers of (stretched over opening) panty hoes...because on the iced over lake, there is no dust or anything in the air except maybe some snow, which would be stopped by the nylon. But is it alright to run no intake boot and such? thanks-darren

Id personally not take the filter off, for what small gains you will prolly see from doing so.. To be honest tho, snowmobiles run the same way, many sleds just have a silencer box with some real thin foam to keep snow out.I see many sleds on radar runs with just the carbs.. It probably wouldnt hurt for the 20 seconds you will be doing it.
