hey is there any point in getting the pro design air filter kit with the k and n? What is the purpose of the billet mounting piece, can't you just buy the filter and it fits right on, i'm lost? thanks

This kit is not really necessary for the honda's. This kit was designed for the yam's due to there design in which the filter clamps to the boot. they were having problems with them coming off and dirt getting into the intake boot. Honda's design is much better as always and this kit is not necessary!!!

i bought the kit the other day. one benefit is that you get a bigger filter so more air flow. it is definately easier to put on. i like the kit but yes it is $$$. i think it is over pirced. i thought i would try it out.

when you clamp the filter onto the intake boot it could MAYBE come loose and slip off. the little billet ring just makes it solid so that the clamp has resistance agianst it when you tighten it down.

yea, i had the pro flow adapter ordered and cancelled it. it was 129 bucks for the filter and a little metal ring...what are they nuts! i'm gonna buy the k&n in a week or so for 45.

on the other hand, the adapter made by scary fast that slides into the front of the carb that "splices" the air, thats a better idea if your gonna spend 100 bucks.

the adapter is a mounting ring it helps keep a positive seal. the K&N filters suck they let to much dirt go by. buy a foam filter they trap smaller microns of dirt. Ive seen a guy that bought a K&N and used it with out the adapter, he could not get it to seal very well.

and how do they get the power? they let more air in, guess what else comes in with it. hell run with no filter if you wont more power.

I haven't had a problem with mine letting dirt in and I'm cleaning it all the time because it's so dirty. It's gotta be a good filter if it gets that dirty

The only way a KN will let dirt by is improper maintence. Used one on all my bikes 300 - 450r and on my vehicles and not once have i seen dirt in the intake boot. Doesnt happen if you know how to take care of your equipment. And as far as maintence i could clean my KN 3 times before you even get the oil off a foam filter.

WTF? $120 for a freaking air filter??? these companies need to stop reaming everyone on the price and put down the crack pipe.
