I found a '91 Ford ranger in the paper for $1,200. I went and looked at it last night and it was in o.k. condition, but it did need some work. It had the 4.0 motor, not the 2.9 with about 160,000 miles on it. The lady said she would take 1k for it. She also said that it wouldn't go over 45 when in 4x4. What do you guys think? sound like an ok deal, and what could be with the 4-wheel drive??

For a 4.0 4x4 Id pay 1k or more. Sounds like a deal. Usually there is no reason to have 4 wheel drive above 45mph anyway.

if you read the owners manual it tells you specifically not to take it over 45mph in 4wd

but i have had my ranger up to 75 in 4wd

Well than it doesn't sound like much of a problem...BTW how do you like your ranger? This will be my first truck if I get it, and just some peoples input on them. My dad is convinced that they are ****...but I think otherwise.

Damn that ranger is WAY nicer than the one I am looking at. You said it "used" to be a 2.3, what is it now? What all have you done to it, and about how much $ invested if you don't mind me asking:p

what motor did you drop in that? i have seen a few 5.2litre in rangers i was going to start building mine but i think im going to wait til my yfz is paid off and get a f 150 and start building it into a pre runner, its easier than a motor swap and i like the f 150 styling a lil more i want a fabtech kit front and rear, with mickey thompson lock style rims with 33s, and fabtech glass front and rear and some other stuff...ahh man i love trucks and quads:macho

she wanted $1,200 origonaly(sp?) so I think I am doing pretty good. Yesterday the lowest she would go was 1k, and now she lowed to $900. I think its worth it. Live and learn I guess:p
