on a 400ex there is a drain bolt on the left side on the bottom of the block.. Now i was tightening the oil plug and the whole threaded area that the bolt goes into snapped right off the block. i was dumbfounded and so was my pap what he looked at it i only had one hand on the ratchet too when this happend... no idea but just watch out for that also the oil tank drain bolt , dont tighten that too much cuz the aluminum likes to strip...
has anyone ever seen that problem witht he block drain bolt???

The oil tank drain bolt breaking off is not uncommon, Honda even reinforced that area on later models, starting '03 I think.

It is reccomended that the crush washers should be relaced at both locations when changing the oil.

I think those washers should be included with the oil filter replacement.

I don't rhink think the crush washers are included with any filter replacement. Somthing Honda should consider if they continue with this set up;) :)

i know this may sound rediculous to some, but i always torque those bolts down now. i had my bottom of the tank crease and leak oil. luckly i found it before it leaked more than a few drips. the tank i put at 14 and the case i put at 18ft/lbs

you can get them welded back on, find a place that welds aluminum and is good at it and they should have no problems welding it back on for you.
