Depends on what front end you have.

go with +4 unless you just do cross country

I will agree. I have a +4 and love it. But if you go with this set-up I would recommend going wider in the front also

This is ridiculous. That's like asking what vehicle is best.

Best for what?

Me personally, I like Corvettes, but they don't do very good for towing a toy-hauler, do they?

So ask yourself, what do you want your quad to do?

A +4 axle is great for dunes and flattrack racing, or wide open areas. They absolutely suck for tight trails and tight woods areas. I have a 250r and a 250x. The 250r has an extended axle and a-arms, and easily twice the horsepower of my little stock 250x. But in a few sections where I ride, that little 250x is faster. Why? Because it has a narrow, nimble wheelbase that will weave in between rocks, bushes, and roots.

What type of riding do you do? What type of terrain do you ride? What is your style of riding. THESE factors will dictate which axle width is best for YOU.

And just FYI, this should probably have gone in the suspension section.
