04 400 rancher problem

my mom just bought 04 400 rancher last year and we brought it home and now it wont start...when i try n start it it just backfires every single time...whats wrong???

see if the gas is turned off... you never know... then check to see if the sparkplug boot is on all the way... then check the carbuerator and see if anything is stuck in the ioff position when the throttle is all the way in... check those first

on my friends rancher it wouldnt run and we figured out it was the hose comin out of the gas cap, it was pinched and was messin somethin up.
