The last 2 stem bearings I have installed are too small for my frame, its like the holder they go in is now oversized for some reason. Since the bearing can move side to side, it feels like play in the tie rod, which bugs the **** out of me. What can i do to fix this, Im afraid a bearing that is even 1mm bigger outside diameter will be TOO big. The bearing fits fine until it gets past the place the snap ring fit in. By the way, this is a 2000 400ex.

Did you re install, the metal spacer that goes betwwen the stem and stem bolt?

The first time i had my frame pced i forgot to install mine and the stem would move around.

It sounds like in the bast a bearing siezed and spun in the frame causing the hole to open up. Try cuting up a Coke can and making a shim to go around the outside of the bearing.
