HOW FAR CAN WE TAKE THE WEIGHT OF ARE MACHINES DOWN TO?????

IM JUST CURIOUS IF ANYONE HAS HEARD OF "FRAME BORING"
I NEVER HEARD OF IT BUT A LOCAL SHOP I GUESS DOES THIS FOR ABOUT $200-300 DOLLARS AND IT TAKES ABOUT 4 DAYS TO COMPLETE PROCESS.

HE SUPPOSIVELY GOES OVER AND CHECKS ALL WELDS AND CORRECTS ANY PROBLEMS, THEN HE CHECKS THE PAINTING OF YOUR FRAME AND WILL MAKE RECOMADATIONS AS TO WHAT YOU SHOULD DO FROM THERE, THEN THE ONE THAT TAKES THE CAKE.

HE HAS A DREMEL WITH A SPECIAL WIRE BRUSH ON THE FLEX SHAFT AND HE LITTERALLY BORES OUT THE FRAME FROM WHAT I UNDERSTAND AND HE CAN HAVE YOU LOOSE UPTO 5-8 POUNDS WHEN HE IS DONE WITH HIS PROCESS.

HAS ANYONE ELSE EVER HEARD OF SUCH A THING????????

I think I'd leave the frame the way it is,,,makin the metal thinner,,doesn't sound to safe to me...

That's funny!!! Pay him by the pound. The only thing he'll get of the frame with a wire brush/dremel is dirt.

I don't race so I suppose I just don't understand the point of paying $300 to lose 5-8 pounds but it seems to me if you just watch what you eat you could lose about 5-8 pounds for very little money. ;)

First I have to agree that a dremel (sp?) and wire brush aren't going to remove much metal.

Second, anyone that has welded on a 400 frame knows they are already paper thin. I definitely wouldn't make the tubing walls any thinner.

Third, how's he getting access to the inside of the frame? Is he cutting the sub frame off and the welding it back on?

I don't know, but it sounds like a scam to me.

Instead of making the Frame Lighter you should have it Gusseted.
