450r of course

just work out, then you will have no need for reverse and you can tug it out of a hole on your own power

Here we go again kids......why does everyone ask this question....
"What should I get a full on race bike or a fun ride quad"...but then they never tell us what type of riding they are gonna do with it, where they are gonna ride it, and what they expect from the quad.

Here is the point ---- there are about 200 threads with this same exact question. What you need to do is give us as much info about you and your riding needs and style then you will see tons of educated responces, not....dude get a fo-fiddy cause they rock!... and the kid that typed that rides an old 230 quadsport from '86 (which in it's day was a good quad)

Help us help you....and we will:D

dont be a p ussy dude. dont not get the r because of reverse because if you cant manuver a quad then you shouldnt even be riding the r anyway

I agree but won't be so vulgar about it. The 450r is going to be harder to ride slow, but the 400ex doesn't have near the power.

the 400ex wont have the power, but do most of the people who buy these ever use the power? people use CC's as a bragging point, not their riding ability, which will get them hurt and why the sport took a hard hit before. a good rider can be as fast trail riding on a 300ex then a awful rider on a 400ex. IMO there should be certain restrictions that you must pass to purchase a 450r, yfz450, a raptor ( ) and the z450 if it ever comes out. a modded one of those can get away from someone in the woods to quick. and if your worried about reverse, buy a ute.

lol, ive just seen what can happen. i started racing in 92, after the whole down fall of sport atv's. ive heard the quote, "if you dont change things, history tends to repeat itself" or something like that. back before all that happened, we had several companies producing fast sportatvs, and factory support in racing. its taken a lot of time but we are just getting that back.

what about the Predator i dont wont nuthin that brakes down alot tho

Just get the 450r. I race MX on a yfz, and i ride alot of trails, too. I used to have a quad with reverse, and didnt want to give it up, but its worth it because of the power, and you never need reverse. If I want to turn around, I just effortlessly do a 180, and the problems solved. Youll get used to it, and youll be happier.

Wow. You just jumped from one class of ATV to a completely different one.

There is a hugeeee difference b/w the trx's and the Preds.

About 150 Lbs for example.

My reverse = While rolling, hit front brakes, turn either way, and gas it. 180* turn on a dime

Wow, what does your dad do for a living? You guys sound LOADED. You have an '04 modded 300ex and he's going to buy you a brand new 450R for Christmas, IF that's good enough for you.

As long as you're spoiled, just get the damn 450R and be happy! It's light enough to just pick up the rear end and throw it around if you happen to need to turn around.

I don't think that someone who worries about reverse needs (or could handle) the power of a 450r. JMO

11-19-2004, 10:33 PM
I agree, 400exstud, if you need reverse, you cant handle a 450. Once i got my yfz, and had to get off and push my quad out of a situation a few times, i learned to plan ahead a little when riding, and just not get myself into situation where id need to get off my quad. After you learn this, then you just find yourself never needing reverse because you dont get into situations where youd need it.

depends on the width of the trails you ride. im 6'0" 290 and ride mine just fine, little more power for hills would be better. getting fullsystem soon. the 400s have to stop and bang off of trees i can fly between. i dont know why most everybody is so worried about goin fast.
