well if the x was stock the 300 would win:)

depends on what type of race u r doining. if its a pretty short run the 250x will win. it has a more agressive lowend cam and the has higher revs because the cdi box on the 250x revs 100 rpm's than the 300's. the only difference in the motors is that the 300ex has a longer stroker witch will give it a higher top end. it also depends on how worn out the 250x is if its in need of a rebuild and the 300 is almost brand new the 300 will prolly win.

just my own opinion:o

actualy, its the ohter way around, my 300 with a supertrap pipe was dead even with a STOCK 250x. the x has a little shorter stroke wich helps it rev quicker, it also has another 100 rpm and its a little lighter

Do 300s with these mods do power wheelies in 3rd?
Mine has a K&N removed air box lid and thats all I can tell stock spockets. If not what could it have done to it to cause this?
By power wheelies I mean hit the gas in 3rd and it pulls up without pulling on the bars.

Wow heres an old wore out topic.
The 250x will always win stock for stock unless theres something wrong with it.
250x rev limiter 8500 rpm
300ex rev limiter 7900 rpm
250x has slightly more agressive cams and more free flowing muffler. Yes they look the same but totally different inside.
250x is lighter without the starter/ battery.
All this adds up to about 1 or 2 mph top speed difference so depending on state of tune the race results could go either way.

And the longer stroke improves low end not top end.

As for the wheelies in 3rd gear, I have a fmf full system, ehs airbox lid, and twin air filter, and mine will pull up in 3rd gear if you have the rpms right when you crack on the gas. But you def. have to pull up & stand up, but if you get it up there, it will go all day on 2 wheels. I'll let you know how mine does after christmas, I will be putting in a wiseco 11.1 piston, stage 1 web cam, and fitting an hmf silencer to my fmf hearders. Im hopin that will get me some huge gains.

a bone stock 300ex can and will pull wheelies in 5th gear. i have done it on my friends 300ex he could do it all of my other friend could do it. the idea is to use the decent low end they have. while your in 5th almost wide open let off and get right back on the gas a few times then jump on the seat pull back and pinn it.

I agree with Bradley.

The 250x will win in a drag race against a 300ex. Stock for stock.

Get into really tight woods, where you're in the bottom 1/2 of the revs most of the time and the 300ex will edge out ahead slightly..
