need help with hotcam stage 2!

just bought one and was wondering if i have to change rockers,valves, chain? all that is still stock on my 01. what problems will i run into if i dont change them?

I second that except you must remember to remove the decompression spring and pin, if I remember right its on the bottom 1/2 of the head, somewhere under the cam slot, its a small hole (inside is the spring and pin).-darren

ok thanks guys. also do you think this camis gonna wake my 400 up a little. i am installing a 38mm quicksilver carb and this stage 2 cam and i already have it bored .020 over with a wiseco high comp domed piston.

you dont need to be putin in a stg 2 in a 400 stg 2 is for 416 and up:eek2:

You can put a Stage 2 in a 400ex, his is .020 over so that is what, 406? A Stage 2 will show improvements in a 400ex with the mods that he's putting into it, it's just that he'd see more power out of a 416.

Yea man i have almost the same setup you have minus the 38mm carb and it is way faster than my pipe and filter 400ex. It should wake your bike up a lot.

i have talked to several people who have gone with either the 416 or 426 mod and they all reccomend that you stay with the stock springs and rockers cause if you install hardened ones, they tend to overheat quicker.
