You can get that front end for around 3 grand, depending on who you know.

Hey R3concepts, who do you recommend i go through if i want to get the big rezzie pep shocks. I live in san diego. Ive got a 450r. Also, who do you recommend with arms. Not interested in LSR. Do you think the peps are better than axis?

R3Concepts
11-17-2004, 09:07 PM
PEP 8 click, go through Baldwin. 4-5 weeks delivered. LSR would be my first choice cause I have a great hook up on it. My second choice would be Laeger LT ball joint, or JB LT arms. Protrax is nice but you can go fast on any of those other arms. PEP and AXIS are both great shocks. I like the PEPs better, they corner better for me. Axis sells a non-rebound shock for the 450R, which gains 1/2 travel but PEP sells rebound adjustable rears that are designed to work with the HRC linkage that PEP designed.

Jeff2269
11-17-2004, 09:14 PM
Is this the same rear linkage that Baldwin is working on? Also, so you think i should go with PEP all the way around with laeger or JB. Isnt JB and Laeger like the same stuff? Is it just me or does it look like the PEP shocks LOOk almost the same as they did many years ago. I mean i know they are great shocks because a lot of pros run them, but as far as looks go, they look outdated compared to elka or axis.

I wasnt tyring to bash him, thats a sweet ride! but it just looks like it was beaten on. well he does race so that would explain it. hammer, mine wont stay shiny for too much longer if i ride it for as much as i do:rolleyes: oh well, its a quad, they are supposed to get beaten on. sorry if i offended anyone.

ya you guys are right it looks pretty beat and that's because as much as i hate to admit because it is;) I've been racing intermediate class (which here is the same as the A class) with the stock suspension on it which gives it quite a beating and the fact that i race on a sand track doesn't help much if you all look at the pic of it on the left side ther is a homemade gusset that i welded in after the frame cracked on me but i love the front end and as far as I am concerned it is the best out there if you have any thing to ask feel free i'll be happy to share information

Jeff2269,
Yes PEP all the way around. Laeger and JB arms are VERY close in design thats why either will work well. As far as looks go with PEP, all I can say is "If it aint broke, dont fix it" Besides PEP shocks are chrome if your looking for looks. Since all the parts you mentioned are avalable from BMS, he can probably hook you up?

Thumpin 450R where the swinger, rear shock, beadlocks?

Thanks R3. When is this linkage going to be available? Is this the same linkage that Mark Baldwin is working on? He said he is working on one, but is not satisfied with it so far. I also asked him about the linkage from HRD that i guess Wayne desinged and he said he didnt know what i was talking about and didnt know anything about it...hmmmmmm? How do you feel about Metal Craft arms?

R3Concepts
11-18-2004, 08:42 PM
I dont know about his linkage. I know that he is working on one for Tim, because Tim feels that the 450R rear end slowed him way down for the mx nationals. Wayne sold his design to HRC and its pretty hush hush so they wont say to much about it, but it is coming. MC builds good products as well, not sure if they build 450R arms, but all are similar in the fact that they are spud style shock mount arms. I do know that the MC yfz arms only allow you to run a 18.25 inch shock, which isnt a huge deal but its best to have the longest shock you can. Most PEP zps for 450Rs are like 20.25-20.75 inches.

how do tcs shocks compare to the others?the triple rate zps

R3Concepts
11-18-2004, 09:09 PM
mxracer53. Stop starting so many threads about mx quads, race quads, shocks, arms etc. Research this kind of stuff. Do searches instead of hijacking a thread. If memory serves there is a TCS INFO thread already up. Look at that first. TCS are great shocks, but not in the PEP ballpark.

Mxracer53
11-19-2004, 04:24 PM
its not im starting so many its that im trying to get one to stay there so u only have to go to one thred for shocks/or mx quads/or things like that.thanks though

R3Concepts
11-19-2004, 05:03 PM
I could go through here and count at least 10 threads you have started about the same things. Besides for a MX PRODIGY you sure dont seem to know much about, well....... MX.

Dude, you know nothing whatsoever. Learn about bikes, setups, parts, then learn to ride....then think about going Pro after you smoke everyone in your hometown, and can come in top 3 in your home state. Until then continuing being a MX NOBODY.

ThumPIN_450R
11-19-2004, 07:25 PM
what more could you want on you're bike mx prodigy you're sig says you have pro taper bar pad that's so trick and instead of talking about how good you are go out and make a name for you're self and the talk all you want and do like r3 says do some research on here and stop starting useless theads the get annoying after about 5or 6 in a row

Look kid, I dont mean to flame on you, but this site has TONS of info on it. Do searches, learn about bikes, etc, then ask questions, people will be more then willing to help you out, but when its a dead issue then people get a little angry. Big sorry to thumpin450r for hijacking your thread, nice bike.

Thanks dude, much appreciated. Also, MC does make arms for the 450r and i asked him if he planned on making a rear linkage for it and he said no hes only making swing arms because the 06 models are going to have the rear end problem all solved. I guess Honda is going to fix it in 06. So if i went with the MC lT fronts i wouldnt be able to run the 20in PEP?

R3Concepts
11-19-2004, 09:28 PM
Im not sure on the 20 inchers or not. MC would be the ones to ask about that, I dont know where the shocks mount is located on those arms. My guess would be probably 20 inchers, but definetly 19s.

Jeff2269
11-19-2004, 09:36 PM
I dont know if you would be able to tell by looking at the pic, but if you go to www.metalcraftracing.com and click on a arms there is a pic of the arms on a honda with the pep 8 click shocks.

R3Concepts
11-19-2004, 09:40 PM
Those are 20 click ZPS and yes they look like 20 inchers, keep in mind that this is 20 inches free length off the bike. Nice arms I like them, and 800 isnt all that bad.

Jeff2269
11-19-2004, 09:42 PM
No 800 isnt too bad, but i think laeger and jb are right in that same price range. MC also carries axis but he recommends pep and he said he does most of his testing with them. I guess i probably cant go wrong with either of the 3.
