How tight should the piston in the sleeve? I just got everything back from the shop. Its a new 440 ross pistonand sleeve. It seems alittle tight but I dont know for sure.i can push it down with my fingers but I want to make sure its all done right before I install everything.

yes it should be that tight..You cant really say it is or isnt too tight by being able to push it up and down, but You should be able to see a small even gap between the edge of the piston and the cylinder wall. It should be small, but cant remember the exact specs right now..Hope this helps

as long as you have a small gap in the rings youll be fine. some people file the ends of rings depending on application to get the right clearances and fit.

gap meaning the distance from the 2 ends of a ring.

measure the outside diameter of the piston and the inside diamater of the sleeve and their should be .002-.003 clearance
