View Full Version : 2004 Englishtown ATV Classic

Ralph

For the first time in over a decade Raceway park in Oldbridge, NJ hosted an ATV MX race. This track has been off limits to ATV Racing, but with the increased popularity of ATV racing, Raceway Park finally decided to give ATVs a trial run in the event so named the "Englishtown ATV Classic."

The event drew over the 200 ATVs, which showed the park that ATVs definitely deserve an oppurtunity to have atleast one race a year at the facility.

Also, the event marked the return of ATV racing legend, Travis Spader, who is making his return to ATV racing after retiring a couple of years ago to pursue a profitable career.

I made my way over to Natalies trailer and noticed he was running Fox Air shocks.

Ralph
11-16-2004, 06:51 PM
Natalie was taking off the air shocks because they were pre production versions he was testing, and they weren't completely setup for his riding style and with competition like Travis Spader, Pat Brown, Randy Lehr, and Donald Lysinger in attendance, he switched to a race proven setup for the 2nd Moto.

He said that they weren't bad. If you ask me i would say that they are probably just as good as any other aftermarket shock, but these just aren't setup right for the track condition. John Natalie Jr. did share that he very excited about the new Production version Fox Shocks that are currently in development.

Another Real Exciting Race was 4 stroke C

Exriders member Tants was the first out of the turn from the beggining and fought off a yfz and 450r the entire Race.

Ralph

Tants was infront for the white flag but unfortunatly 2nd and 3rd place both passed him after the uphill doubles. Tants still got a great 3rd place finish on his Nearly Stock Yfz.

i don't think you guys realize what has just happend with travis spader's return. he was one of the hardest working riders in the scene and had to quit for financial purposes and he's back. he can handle whoops like a mad man and prolly just caused Gust and the rest of the pro class to train twice as hard. I'm all for Spader and ATV LEGEND!!!!!!!!!

He realy amazed me with his smooth thechnique, he just glides over everything.

Hes been in retirement for 3 years and comes back to beat the #2 rider in the nation. That is deffinatly an achievment.

not to take anything away from travis. he is a great rider, but first off, a local track with only 1 top pro is a little different than having 20 pros on a national track. You also forget that I won both the motos I wasnt testing in and travis ended up way back. The second moto I came from a stall at the start passed everyone and caught travis on the last lap. If we would have ran 1 more(witch we were supposed to) I would have won. Travis is no doubt fast, he always has been. You never lose the speed just the conditioning. Im not normally one to complain but if you tell a story about a race, tell it all. I won both of the other motos easily, and pat brown and donny lysinger were right behind me. It should be a real intresting year next year. Im am extremely happy that travis is comming back. I hope more people follow his example. We need more pros and just quads in general.

I talked to harlen and we were talking a bit about the report,

i wish i didnt miss the motos you won, it sucks that i didnt get some pics of those, you did an awesome job on the moto where you came from last place up to second place. That was a very exciting moto and you did great.
Im happy with how my first report turned out but my next one will be better, i was kinda un prepared for this one.

11-20-2004, 02:08 PM
hey ralph, you did a good job reporting. Harlen definately needs more help. Its hard for anyone to keep up with all the races that really need covered. Especially with his new suzuki ride( Im jealous) I dont mean to sound like a cry baby. I just want people tp know I wasnt slow out there. Like I said Im really excited about travis comming back. It can only help the whole sport to grow with such great talent. Not only is he a good racer, hes a good buisness man and an all around good guy. So dont think Im mad or anything.one thing I love about racing quads is that everyone is such good friends. I look forward to comming back every year just to see people I dont get to see the rest of the year. I also had someone tell me at this race they were afraid to come up and talk to me. One thing you dont have to worry about is me not liking to talk to people. I love meeting new people and helping anyway I can. Thats one of the best things about being a pro. I will always do my best to be a good role model for people, and will never forget that I started in the c class just like everyone else. anyone who thinks they r better than someone else just because they can do one thing or another better is so far off. Its good to be proud of hard work and determination to be the best at something , but the most important is to be a good person. Racing only lasts so long, Friends last forever.

On another note, I was talking to some people about putting on a school in that area. If I could find enough intrested people I would love to do it. Well later everyone!

I think it was great for montgomeryville to hook us up with the bikes. Ita a big step for a company to put out that much product. I am always nervous about moving to new bikes, but I think we will be able to make them work just as good as the yfz's. I have alot of real smart people workin with me.

I removed the trash posts from this report, and I will not tolerate someone hiding behind a username and attacking the character of another rider at any level. The person responsible was banned, and I will do the same to anyone else that follows in his foot steps.

I also will be making some phone calls tomorrow to some sponsors and follow up on this incident.

Im happy to see spader out racing again. If he trains as hard as he used to he will definitely be a major threat on the gnc tour .don’t doubt him. The sport could use him. He is an awesome rider. Congrats to Natalie for the 12hr win. Thanks for filling my spot well. Good luck next year. Get the #1 plate. Your wayyyyyyyy overdue. Finally englishtown opened their eyes. Hopefully more races to come. Any way just my 2 cents. Good luck to all the veteran pros that stuck with it through the years. I cant thank my sponsors or friends in the sport enough for making my atv racing career a successful one.

Good to know your still following the races. Its sad to see you out of the rscing scene, well on quads any how. I think you will be back. its in your blood. You , Matt, and Chris made it alot easier for me this year at the 12 hour. Its easier to start at the front and you guys learned alot from last year. I raelly had the best teamates out there.
