yz426 tranny problem

when I first put my hybrid together I would put in 5th gear and it would like clunk in and know when i put it in 5th it will slip after half throtle i think it needs a gear set but someone told me that it could be the clutch basket cracked but I put clutches in it and it looked fine

it would do it in all gears if it was the clutch.
it sounds like the shifter drum groove for 5th gear is worn or the shift fork for 5th is worn.

you should replace the 4th and 5th gear sets, the engagement dogs tend to get alot of abuse in those gears. it happened to my 400 in 4th, the dogs were rounded and the teeth were starting to flake.

Um...I thought the YZF's didn't have a 5th gear?

the 400-426 are 5 speed, 450 is 4 speed
