If your going with the 416, the stock sleve will be fine. The 426 will do just fine on the stock sleve as well, but if you want it even more reiable go with the 440 sleve and bore it to a 426. If mine hadn't already been bored to a 426 with the stock sleve, I would have installed the 440 sleve than went to a 426. I don't think there is much power difference between the 416 and 426, maybe just a little more power down low with the 426:devil:

Just to be clear, you can bore the OEM sleeve to 88mm, and you can resleeve the cylinder with a big bore sleeve. BUT, if you want to run the 88mm piston in the larger sleeve you best be sure the sleeve you select is set up for a first finish bore of 88...many are set up to start with the 89mm piston.

I am partial to the 416 because I have yet to be beaten by a 426, or a 440 yet in a drag race. Besides that I have heard from many people that for reliability and speed the 416 is the better way to go anyway. Just my 2 cents.

When im bore im going ot a 416, just because i know it will be more reliable and create less heat than a 426 would! Now if you resleeved and could start out at 426, as long as the sleeve was put in properly and wont move, i would say that would also be a good bore, since there is no replacement for displacement ;)
