I would put in a Heil Coil. ;)

Heli-Coils are good, but if you can get a plug that is 1 mm or so larger in diameter, you might be able to just tap out the hole to the next size bigger.

You should be able to get a heli coil at a hardware or automotive parts store. Just figure out what size you stripped out and they should hook you up with the right size. ;)

I did some checking and I think I am leaning twoards the "time-sert" product. Look up www.timesert.com and tell me what you think. I think they would be better as a drain plug repair.

And does any one know what size threads the stock drain plug is?(400ex and 300ex are the same) 1.25, 1.5, or 1.75? Thanks for the help. And would I have to split the cases to use a heli-coil kit? That would stink. I was thinking to just put compressed air in the dipstick hole.

take the drain plug to the local autoparts store, tell them you want one "single oversize"..

basically it's the same thread pitch, but slightly larger.. they are designed to cut threads as you turn them in.. If used carefully you should be fine.. After you put it in you need to take it back out and flush the chips (if any) out with some clean oil..
