Silly question, but what length is the common front LT shock for the YFZ? I've heard both 18.5 and 19in.
I ask, because we want to build a set of long travel arms for mine. I figure we can go about it 2 ways. Build the arms without the lower mounts, bolt up the long shock, let the arms drop, and figure out where the lower mounting point should be, OR build the arms with the lower mounts out as far as practical, then measure the extended length and compressed length and give those specs to Elka for the shocks. Comments?

Why don't your just buy some long travel shocks and make your a arms based off of them?

Thats what I'm getting at......I want to know the common length to order. I've heard 18.5 and 19 in.

Ive said this before but coming from someone who owns a fab shop, a-arms are not easy to build. If you dont have a jig to build them in or make a jig, dont even waste your time, you'll get hurt. Anyway most yfz LT shocks are 18.5 or MC arms run 18.25 inchers.

Thanks, but we've built probably about 50 sets of standard travel arms so far. The number 1 and 2 Hare and Hound plate holders use these arms. Just haven't played with the long travel stuff yet. Thanks much for the info.

Good to here that you know what your doing, Id hate to see someone get hurt. The spud mount style arms are easier to make(JB. Laeger, Houser, LSR) then the gullwing style(Roll). If you dont have a CNC bender to make gullwings just perfect, then the front end alignment will always be off.

These arms will be very similiar to the Hauser arms. The gull wing style doesn't provide the MUCH needed ground clearance for the So. Cal. races. Lots of rocks!
