whats wrong with my carb???????

When i punch the throttle downs the engine dies but if I slowley rev it the engine just revs like its supposed to huh. What is the problem here ????????

same thing happened to me this weekend. It would go fine at lower revs, but if i punched the throttle it just bogged down. I just cleaned my air filter because it was pretty dirty... but i went hunting before i could see if it fixed the problem. Check your filter first.

If that does not work check your jetting maybe you are getting too much fuel when you punch it

I have a Dyno stage 1 jet kit in it with a 170 main jet in it , so what size do i need to reduce to , will a 165 work??

its your coil, or its your coil wire. or you mybe need to change your spark plug.

Man, you guys are all over the place, the carbs on the 400s have an accelerator pump, usually if the accel pump is clogged or not putting out a big enough shot if can cause a bog. But most small engines don't use them. I am just using knowledge from tuning on vehicle carburetors.

It could also be the ignition system, I would check ignition system before the carb, its a little easier.

so if i order a rev box for my ex it will fix the problem, or is a rev box differnt from a coil??

How do i unclogg the accel pump and where is it on the carb??

did you ever check your filter?

Check filter, then clean carb. If that dont work check your jets.

hey yeah the other two guys also maybe be it i'm sorry, i forgot about that. Or there might also be water in gas tank, try putting it in reserve and emptying your carb. that might also work.

same thing is happening on my 300ex...i put a new spark plug in and cleaned the air filter cleaned the carb...and i just went and bought 5 jets and a main jet on sun just havent had time to change it.

Try moving the clip on your needle,, that worked for my Pred.

I dont know,.....just try either way out and find out what clip would work best with your set up
