I started this build with the thought of using strictly O.E.M. black fenders, then I had the chance to see a set of Laker Custom for a Z400 in person and was pretty impressed. We had used Laker on the project 400 last year and I was happy to see them do nothing but improve thier product.

Ordering the units was painless, and they arrived in less then a week. Customer service was excellent. These can be purchased from our site sponsor C & D Racing or from Laker Custom direct. Pricing is in the expected $500 or less range and is comparable to Fullbore.

The Laker fenders installed very easily and was supplied with all required hardware and bracket extensions.

Overall, the product looks absolutley killer! Fit and finish are on par with any other aftermarket manufacture. Installation required normal hand tools and took less then 10 minutes to install. The front fenders are 3 piece in design and once installed can be removed as a 1 piece unit. The hood is attached using supplied "push pins" that we all are used to seeing on our atv's.
The rears use 2 small bracket extensions that mount the fenders to the factory rear upper support brackets.

After installation a few laps around the field proved that the fenders were attached securly and I didnt notice any fender flop. I still feel that using factory brackets in the factory locations is best but as with other brands, you are stuck with the design.

I think the overall look and design is pretty good and it will come down to personal preference(as always) but if your in the need for aftermarket plastic and want something different, Laker Custom might just be your choice also.

hey Pappy, how much different is the laker plastic than stock? to me it does looks like it is saved alittle but still the same basic design as the stock just less there? am i right? but your 450R looks awesome! i love the black on chrome and the gun metal frame it looks sweet! i would be afraid to get it dirty.

it is very close to the stock fenders in design, with a tad more styling and a bit less fender:p the hood is the most signifigant change in appearence IMO

does the laker custom plastic still have the removeable front fenders?? i think my 450R would look cool with white plastic.

i like the fullbore plastic except the front end, i like the carbon fiber hood, and the front fenders arent removeable.
i wish someone would make 450R plastic with a smooth one piece front end that looks more like the 250r
