i started wet sanding my plastics today started with 220 then 400 then 600 then 1500 and it turned out white and chalky. then i tried buffing it with a 2500 rpm drill and polishing compund. it took the white away but the shine didnt come back. should i sand more with finer paper or use a different compound. i used no.7 white polishing compound if that makes a difference

right now im supposedly grounded form the cp but oh well, buy some pc racing plastic renew. it cost 20bucks and let me tell you it works amazing. my 400 looks sick the plastic is shinier than the brand new ones down at the honda shop. just besure and wash that car compound or whatever off really good before using the stuff. im taking some pics tomorrow so i can remember how good it looked while it was all clean and polsihed and stuff.:p

? about torching plastics cause when i do it it gives backsome of the shine but makes the scratches deaper. also would a heat gun work better than a torch thanks

i did a whole profile of the process of shaving my plastics. i took pictures before i cut, after the saw-zaw, after useing a file, after all sanding, and after i torched it so u could see how it looked every step of the way. at the end i had a close up of the edge before i cut, and a close up of the edge after i used a torch and u could literally NOT tell the difference. i even got the pics mixed up so im not sure if the one that i said was before the cut, was actually before the cut. sorry this doesnt do u much good because the batteries on my dig. cam. went out before i could get the pictures up, lol. but i guess my point is that u could save money and get a professional looking cut just using a propane torch.
