Which on of these is better....... I ride on our farm place and in Sand and some water but not very often. Which of these two would be best for me? Also with the UNI is there oil different than say the oil you'd put on a stock filter? Cause I just bought a jug of oil for my stock filter and would hate to not even use it now :) But i also have a k&N one of my pickups so i have some K&N supplies too. But what do you guys feel is the best out of those two. I will be running without the lid on also. Does the Uni have and outerwear like the K&N or not?

Thanks guys

I'm also going to get an HMF pipe.

oaky i'll probally get chewed out for this but go with the uni , the k&n will suck up to much dirt , no uni does not make an outerwear for it , i'm gettting a twin air , air filter and there pretty much the same as uni

is it still okay to run no lid with an UNI air filter? Also i'd liek to know if you can use Bel Ray oil on a UNI air filter.

Uni, K&N suck butt for fourwheelers. They get gunked up very fast.

If the oil is for a foam filter then you can use it. I have a uni on my bike with a outerwear and run no lid. Oil and outerwear keep most of the mud out.

I have had a K&N for two years now. I have had no problems whatsoever, but I clean my bike and filter after every ride. Do some preventive maintenance and clean your filter when you are done and you will have no problems. :chinese:

I forgot to mention. I have no box whatsoever. I cut mine off. The reason I did it is because the corners of the air box get dirt and sand stuck in them and the box is sort of a garbage can at that point. I ride in mostly sand I make sure that you use an outerwear and make sure it is on tight, very tight.

where did you get your outer wear for your UNI? Does the Outerwear hurt the uni airfilter since you pretty much got 3 layers of filter with the uni and outerwear?

get the uni. its cheaper, protects better, and you WILL NOT notice a difference in power between it and the K&N

I run a UNI with Bel Ray oil and it works great! No lid, no pre-filter.

How much oil do you guys usually use when doing a filter??????? And what is the cleanest way to do it? I'm thinking about K&N just so i don't have to deal with that oil it gets every where.

So what are some tips to doing this half way clean like.

Thanks

if you ask me the gauze filter oil (K&N type) is messier than foam filter oil. when i oil my uni i just spray it on the filter and work it in a little bit..if you wear rubber gloves you wont get messy at all. but you ride quads...so why should it matter if its a little messy?

you could even put the filter and oil in big ziploc baggie and oil it that way. no mess

I can't just spray this oil on its Bel ray it comes in a oil bottle. I tried the put it in a viplock bag but how to you get all the excess out? I used alot of oil and it says to get all the excess oil out but the more i tried the more my filter looked yellow instead of the blue of the oil. I guess i didn't think of gloves but i'm worried about having too much oil on the filter. plus I can only get about 8 cleanings if that out of a bottle of oil and you guys say clean it after every ride. this is the first time i've cleaned mine since i've owned it. I've had it since the end of may of this year. It was kinda dirty but not like plugged up. I'm just kinda new to this stuff so i worry alot cause i don't just have 5-6K to waste on a new quad if i screw it up.

I dunno what to do I've heard some not so good stuff about K&n filters with letting dirt in. I guess the UNI oil is a spray on too.

do you oil the outwear also? if so do you just use the K&N oil or use oil for foam filter?

Juggalo

you have to oil the K&N but not the prefilter. you cant use foam filter oil on the K&N. you have to use the gauze filter type oil wich is a lot messier than the foam filter oil

ive done alot of testing between filters on my quads. And from what ive learned, UNI is the best. K&N's cotton filter lets in alot of dust, and as long as you clean the UNI alot then its fine. Both give the same power increse(very small).

And in my conclusions, I would rather run the stock foam filter than a K&N. A stock filter is close to a UNI but it is only one layer ( on most quads)
