i am not a pro by no means about ice racing, but i do get myself involved in it also, and i have found that the actual "ice tire" from i believe Cheng Sing works the best for the rear , and i run a pair of kenda klaws in the front... as far as rims, you don't really have to be too picky cuz yur not gonna be jumping or running into things, at least yur not supposed to... but i am using 10 in douglas .190 fronts , and for the rears i am using 8 in OMF reinforced rims... ( just cuz all my rims are either beads or reinforced...) hey man good luck

Hey, sweet, you live in Fond du lac! are you going to be racing in the ice race series this winter??? i always attend the Barkers Island Ice Racer, are you going?

ok, so you dont really need beadlocks for ice racing since the tires arnt as stressed like on dirt and stuff.. So what do you think about the ITP Baja rims, it kinda looks like they are beadlocks, but not really

I hear that Turf Tamers are a good choise for a rear studded tire...

Saw some set up for ice on ebay. You might want to look into it.

BShoor,
i don't actually race , but i go out and fool around on the ice alot with some buddies... i am not actually even sure what races you are takin about , but if you could give me some info, then maybe i can go out and try it if its close... this is my first season with the 450r, so i am not quite sure how its gonna be compared to riding my sisters blaster last year( always owned race sleds, and never had a real quad til now), so this is gonna be a huge jump for me...
and yea you don't need beadlocks at all of even reinforced rims, but thats what i use, cuz thats all i got LOL talk to you later man, Jason

Hey, I am racing Ice this winter as well. Only in the SWIRA. Last season i raced once in the CWIRA. Most of the people that were in the rubber (unstudded) class ran either the maxxis 4-snows, ohtsu prowedge, or really tacky hoosier flat track tires. All seemed to work really well. I am going to buy the 4-snows for this season and see how well they hold up. I have the Baja reinforced rims too, they are awesome.. only bad part is its tricky sometimes to fill with air. the ring is right over the valve stem. you have to bend the stem to fill. good luck

Kool, The guy sitting on it was the previous owner, he kept the tires,nerfs,a-arms,shocks off it and put the stock stuff back on it, thats why i was looking into rims and stuff, i might just go with a lowering kit for it and not get the a-arms, i only ice race 2 times a winter anywasy and $500 a-arms and $500 shocks just aint worth it, id rather put a down payment on a new sled! that my uncle has

Here is what my quad looked like witht he last owner
