I have heard of this before with the mojave. if the oil is coming out the vent hose that is just under the carb it could very well be piston blow-by that would cause this. :(

so can i just take the piston out and replace the rings or do i have to have it honed and put a new piston in it?

you should do a compression and or leakdown test, just remember the compression won't be very high compared to what you may be used to because of the decompressor.

the mojaves tend to pump a bit of oil out of the vent, especially at higher rpms. the vent tube isn't baffled well and is short so it doesn't take long for the oil to make a mess. you could disconnect it from the airbox and run a longer hose that goes to the back of the frame or someplace high. just put a filter on the end. but you very well need a rebuild.
