It's amazing at how fast those motors rev and how high they rev .... Must be nice to make a 4 second pass and tear down an engine every time . Them valves are just a floating ... :p

It's insane .... i remember someone posting info about the different specs those motors have ... then I seen it on NHRA . Its something like a 1/3 of the way down the track , the plugs aren't creating the spark ... the fuel is igniting itself from the heat .

FUN FACTS

Did you know …

… that the nitromethane-powered engines of NHRA Top Fuel dragsters and Funny Cars produce approximately 8,000 horsepower, about 43 times that of the average street car?

… that one cylinder of the eight cylinders of a

how can you compare a car with twin tubos and blinkers to a big block ground pounding top fuel car?like racing a alchahol against a 110 trike lol with no front wheel.
..
twin turbos have changed everything in drag racing, all the street classes have become a pissing contest with the turbos.
anybody go to bowlinggreen?

To me that doesn't sound like the v-6 in there. SOunds more like a stock car motor. I would think with the work done to it it could sound like that.

i have had that video for about a year and no it is not a V6, it is a V8. when he starts it you can clearly hear the lump of the two extra cylinders of the V8. and yes it was not an accurate reading because he spun the tires. the front end lifted so much because he stomped the throttle and the twin turbos sticking out of the hood spooled up! i have a seen a video of an all-wheel drive twin turbe skyline that almost jumped off the dyno when the guy punched it and the turbos spooled. they did have it strapped down but it still jumped like crazy!

and yes a modified V6 can sound like an 8 cylinder. myself and a few of my friends were wrong on a few occasions. one was when a local auto parts dealer had a replica nascar on display. when they fired it up and backed it out of the trailer,it sounded like one p*ssed off car.we were shocked after they popped the hood and discovered it was only a V6.
the other time is when my buddy got spanked in his 99 firehawk that was running 12's by a grand national.we all would have bet the farm that the guy put a V8 in it judging by the sound. sure enough it was only a V6 but a p*ssed off one at that:eek2:

I am at work, and don't have speakers, so maybe I am way off, but lump of 2 extrz cylanders? Do you mean lope of the cam? That has nothing to do with cylanders, it is the cam size spinning and making the car lope. Again, I haven't heard it, so I may be way off. I have seen GN's on tv and at shows with HP over 1000, and having the 3.8 V6. That is a bad engine, with tons of potential!

Chris Chow's car is a V8, like ssrogers said. Lots of V6 cars do sound like V8s with the right exhaust. Mine sounds like one at idle through the mufflers, but when you get on it is screams V6. It's only in the 500hp range though.

GN's were all black and had black and gray interiors. TType's or Turbo T's came in all availible Regal colors and any interior color. They also got different looking, lighter weight wheels. You could also get them with bench seats, column shift, and even the limited package which usually had a vinyl top and stainless steel rocker panels. The Turbo T's are more of a sleeper car.

Quoted from the article below. "Under full throttle, a dragster engine consumes 1 1/2 gallons of nitro per second".

Lets see, 1.5 X 60 seconds = 90 gallons per minute

Take a moment to check out the page at the link above, theres all kinds of cool facts in it.

It takes a while for those turbos to spool up. You can't put the power to the ground right away because you have very little low-end torque. It would take some very precise clutch control to get a good start on that thing.

Personally, I think it would be funny as hell to drag race in that thing. Your opponent will almost always get the jump and beat you off the line, because you have no low-end. Your opponent will think he's got you beat because hes a car length in front of you. Then, two seconds later, you pass him like hes standing still, and beat him to the finish by ten lengths.

Scott-300ex

-A nitro burning V-8 expends 400 of it's 7000 hp just to drive the supercharger. The equivalent of a Corvette Z06 engine just to spin the blower.
-At "the hit", with the car's clutch at maximum slippage, 4500 of those horses will be dissipated as heat alone.
-It takes 30 hp just to spin each fuel pump, with each pump flowing as much as 1.2 gallons per second at 530 psi.
-For every 15 seconds a funny car idles, the fuel load dwindles by a gallon at the nose. Idle too long and you'll throw weight shift out of whack.
-One brief burnout, followed by a 4.73 sec pass, will consume 15 gallons of nitro, at $15.75 per. But the average pass costs $2000 a second.
-At launch, the car pulls 5.0g of acceleration, holds 4.0g for 2.5 to 3.0 sec, then pulls 4.0 negative g when the chutes blast open. This caused racer Joe Amato to retire from racing when he couldn't keep his retinas attached.
-From rest, the car achieves 100 mph in 1.2 sec, and does so in just 100 ft, or four times it's own length. At half track, or 660 ft, the car hits 260 mph

In the same vein, I'll mention the now deceased Col. John Paul Stapp. A man who tested the limits of human G loading:

On December 10, 1954, Stapp strapped himself into a rocket sled and was accelerated to 632 mph. At this point he was decelerated in 1.2 seconds! This acceleration was in excess of 40 Gs! His body weight was momentarily about 6800 lbs. Wind blast and deceleration were equivalent to a high-altitude ejection at supersonic speed.

Here is an account of what he experienced:
Col. Stapp reported: "It felt as though my eyes were being pulled out of my head . . .I lifted my eyelids with my fingers, but I couldn't see a thing . . ..They put me on a stretcher, and in a minute or two I saw some blue specks . . . In about eight minutes . . . I saw one of the surgeons wiggle his fingers at me, and I was able to count them. Then I knew my retinas had not been detached, and that I wasn't going to be blind."

THAT WAS OFF THE LAST LINK POSTED

and wilkin250r you build up the boost by brake torqueing, go to some proffesional drag raced and they pre-stage, then build up the boost of the turbos for like 10 seconds, then stage, then take off, the older turbos used to lag a lot, but turbos now days are quicker, but they still get the rpm's up to a certian rpm before take off and then they got it all with them

Thats all just an old turbo myth. With the properly setup torque converter and turbo exhaust housing, boost comes on almost instantly. The video I posted of my car racing was with an old torque converter design. The new converter I have gives instant spool up and allowed me to produce over 700ft/lbs of torque.
