The 400ex has a clutch... and is chain driven... lighter in the front

250ex- shaft driven... heavier in the front

Tell your friend that hes an idiot

i had a 250ex and now i have a 400ex....the 400ex lifts up so much easier, but in a way the 250 was better, the gears are closer so you can go slow easy, but 1st ran out way too soon and 2nd hardly had the power to pull it back up if the front went down a little.....maybe pipe and air filter would make it easy

:huh :huh i have a 250ex stock engine and i can pull it up in second NO PROBLEM on flat ground or on a hilll sitting down. or shift from 1st to 2nd to 3rd on a wheelie, easy. but i would say the 400ex is alot easier to get up. more power, more highperformance, lighter front ect.

with the stock front sprocket(15 tooth) you can stand it up with no probs. i went down one tooth in the front and now its hard to keep it down while hauling butt. i am 185 lbs and can stand my 400 up all the way through 3rd with no problems.

mine had the power to pull it up in 2nd on flat ground...and in 3rd standing in the grab bar, its jsut that in 2nd if the front end is dropping fast its kinda tough to get it back to the balancing point, and 3rd hardly has the power at all if you get it down far enough

Mine pulls the front wheels up all the way through 3rd pretty easily. I have a hard time keeping the front end down.
