Hey i have i '91 Chevy s-10 4x4. I am wanting to get a suspension lift kit for it and was wondering how big of tires I can get with a 2 inch suspension lift. Rough country is also coming out with a 6 inch soon but i think it will be too tall and look goofy on that small of a truck. I think if i get a 6 inch i could get some 33's but iono how big i could go on the 2 inch lift.

Thanks

u cant get much more from the 2in kit unless you plan on adding a body lift as well. im thinkin maybe 30-31's with the 2in maybe.

yea i know i cant find any thing else other than a 2 in suspension lift but on roughcountry.com when you go to the s-10/s-15/sonoma part it has the 2 in lift listed and says "6inch lift coming soon" also, i dont want a body lift b/c s-10's frames already hang down too low where you can see them too much. so i wont get a body lift.

I am on 15 and I havent even really drove it yet. I bought it off my brothers friend, he pretty much mudded it all the time. So as you can expect with a mudded truck lots and lots of rust. A lot of tar too. And the motor had a bent connecting rod. I bought a 92 sonoma that had a good 4.3 in it put it in mine. and took the fenders,inner fenders,doors,and bed from the sonoma and put it on my truck. I know it was a lot of work but it's worth it for the 4x4. Then we had a lil body work to do to it and just got it painted red last weekend. it look good but, it needs a lift. of yea and mines a reg. cab long bed.

Here is my 2000 s-10 with a 6in suspension lift from TrailMaster and a 2in body lift, i can fit 33's with very little rubbing, but im gonna go for 35's soon. With a 2in lift i would say 31's are about all u are gonna get. Also trust me a big lift on a little truck doesnt look goofy at all.

hey man thats a nice truck how much did the suspension lift cost you? you think you would still have the same amount of rubbing with out the body lift?

If I remember right the 91 is still the square body style so you can get quite a bit more tire under there than a newer one. I had an '85 4x4 with a 3" body lift and cranked torsion bars. I managed to stuff 33x12.5 Thornbirds with a slight bit of trimming to the rear of the front fender. Here's a pic

That wimpy 7.5" 10 bolt rear isn't very fond of having to turn larger tires.

No not really but it will turn a set of 33's without a problem. Not like you see to many s10's on anything bigger than a 33. I ran mine for 3 years with 33's and never had a problem.

cknox- Don't forget you'll want to re-gear once you go to a bigger tire depending upon what you have in there now. Mine came stock with 4.11's and lockers front and rear so it did fine with the 33's but most don't come with that low gearing stock. If it's a manual I'd go to like a 3.92-4.11 for 33's if it's an auto you'll need atleast 4.11 but 4.56 would be best.

I run 400+hp with 10" slicks with my 7.5" and it holds up!
I do replace it every other winter with a used one out of a 4 bannger!
but never broke one yet!

my s-10 is lowered 4in but with the right back spacing I i could run a 30" tall slick in the back. but I dont!

and if you get to tall of a tire u will have to run like 4.56 gears to get the thing to move!

put a V-8 in her :muscle:

Look in your glovebox for the sticker with all the RPO codes listed on it and see if you can find a matching 'G' code on the site that matches a gear ratio.

Some common codes:

GU6 = 3.42 ratio
GT4 = 3.73 ratio
GT5 = 4.10 ratio

G80 = locking rear diff

Hope this helps.
there will be like 50 codes on the sticker

3.73 is a good all around gear

Without cutting the fenders you will only fit 31's. i have a 3" body lift on my 89 S10 Blazer and they rub on the sway bar in a full lock turn.
