How would the new Raptor 350 hold up against a 400EX? I believe it's about 25 lbs lighter than an '05 400EX, so I'm wondering how much difference the 50cc's would make.

I'm going to be buying a quad soon, my first since I was a teenager and back then the Warrior was about the meanest you could get, in the early 1990's. I rode my friend's 400EX this past weekend and loved it. Of course, the one downfall is the absence of reverse in the '04 and olders. I'd be doing some tight trail riding where reverse is almost a must. I really want to "ride Red" as a big Honda fan, but the '05 Raptor 350 is substantially cheaper than the 400EX. I'm a big guy, weighing about 250, so I'm worried the the old Warrior 350 motor would have a harder time than the 400EX blasting me around.

Thanks for any input anyone has.

Naw stick with the 400.......the raptor is pretty much a updated warrior....:ermm:

I think everyone else will agree with me that the 400 is still woth it and the better choice:devil:

yeah its just an updated warrior.......not really a "competition" machine... would be good for fun trail riding though, but no IMO not competitive, especially against a 400

no. the raptor 350 is essentially a warrior with new plastic. you can tell by watching a warrior jump that they are heavy.

In a dirtwheels shootout between the 300ex, the 400ex, and the raptor 350, the raptor placed last. yes, behind the 300ex! That should tell you something.

Cant beat a honda's reliability. From my experience, yamahas work great for 4 or 5 years and start to fall apart. Look how many people have hondas from the 80s on here. I'd go with the 400EX, or you can check out the 2005 z400- even i was very impressed with it.

for trails they are fun. a 400ex is in another league on the trails. reverse really isnt a "must" you just think it is :p go with a used 400 ya cand go wrong with it. unless power and handling really arent a big concern. the warrior (yes i refuse to call it a raptor) is still fun but the 400 outshines it everywhere.

Thanks guys, that's what I thought. The Warrior 350 motor is a very solid strong one, but I just don't see it competing. The Z400 and KFX400 are on my list also, as I am not sure if I want to spend the dough to go brand new, which I'd have to do to get a 400EX w/ reverse. The Z/KFX twins are a good all-around machine from what I hear, and they are still about 375 lbs, whereas the '05 400EX w/reverse now weighs almost 400. I just prefer Honda.

THis is true, But as far as the 400ex-vs.-raptor350 (a.k.a. WarPIG) I would buy the Honda, Just cuz it handles better, and the Hp specs i understand are

400ex stock around 27hp
warrior motor around 18-20 not for sure!
that means that u would be just a good off gettin a 300ex instead of a warrior!!!!!

It wouldn't even come close....i raced a warrior and he never even had a chance.... (it was stock for stock) I love my 400ex.... ive never been in a place where i "needed" reverse.....not having it just makes you stronger or smarter in picking your routes

used 300's and 400s are very close in price used. also for his size the 300 is bad. hell why not tell him to get a blaster :blah:
