I want to get a slip on for my Z400 and I'd like it to have a little bark to it. I liked the sound of my PC T-4 exhaust I had on my 400ex, but honestly, I would have been a little happier if it were a little bit quieter. I dont want it "stock muffler" quiet, but a nice deep rumble to it.

Is it possible or do I have to put a 396 Chevy big block in it with headers???:D

Wow, everyone had a different opinion. :D I wish that I could get a lineup of Z400's each with a different exhaust system on it, and strapped to a dyno at the same time so that I see which combination I liked the best.

Go with the HMF with the Quiet Core, you won't be disappointed.

For one, DONT get the tc pipe that thing is loud a hell! I would go with a wb e-series or an hmf with quiet core. I like the wb cause its tunable with the disks and gave my bike a good hp increase with all the disks in it. Im probally gonna go with a sparks though, they are the best but loud same as the tc its a really good pipe for torque but that thing will rattle the fillings out of your head and wont improve your top end as much as the sparks.

Thanks man, So far I am leaning towards the HMF with the quiet core. However, I dont want it extremely quiet, I would like a little "rumble" to it. But if I had to choose between an extremely loud, obnoxious, defaning rattle trap, I'd rather hear "stock" quiet..

How does the quiet core sound?

I just got a HMF slip on and didnt get the quite core. The thing is WAY to loud, had it on for about 5 min and couldnt deal with it. Calling HMF tomorrow to get the quite core. But does the core make a big difference or should i get a new pipe? Looking for the same sound as gate_keeper_32

I agree it does sound good. But i ride trails near houses and for that it is too loud. Dont want to make people mad and loose a spot to ride.

the quiet core does make a noticable difference. yes it is a loud pipe. not the loudest but still loud. with the quiet core it will not be the quietest either but better.

The White bro's new E2 is a quiet pipe with very good gains!

Thanks for the info. i just got off the phone with hmf and the quite core is on the way. says that it puts the dbs at about 96, not sure how much louder then stock that is. They said that stock was about 86 to 90 db so whatever. sure it will be fine.
