Went to LBL turkey bay riding area. Had a great time all kinds of trails from beginer to some serious hill climbs and technical washed out areas. I believe there are 2400 acres to ride on. there is camping for $8.00 per night (primative) No showers and portajohns but they pumped them out and cleaned them every am. Cost $15.00 for a 3day pass. Took the family and we drove 9 1/2 hours to met some family there who live in Ill. We all had Bikes and fourwheelers and could ride together or split up into groups. Just thought I would let everbody know it was a nice area, and fun for everyone.

Turkey Bay is nice but there is going to be some major changes in the are come the first of the year.Since the US Forrestry dept has gotten ahold off it the place is getting smaller and smaller each weekend.I predict that it will be marked/directional trails before it's all over.You should go to Hatfield Mccoy trails in WV.Or if you like this area (Tenn/Ky.)then try www.143offroad.com

How do you get to Windrock?From Nashville.

It is close to Oliver Spring and about 20 miles North of Knoxville.

You take I40 toward Knoxville and get off at exit 347 and go toward Oak Ridge.

I had some buddies go back during the summer. They said it was OK..not as good as the Bay but it was still fun. Mostly wide open fire roads.(at least that is what they said)

there is about 5 miles of fire roads out of about 250 total trail miles. There is so much technical stuff there...i've ridden at lbl a few times and windrock absolutely blows it away. There are a couple really nice new trails that are flat dirt, but they are really windy and have a lot of fast elevation changes...the place is awesome. Its about a 2 hour and 15 minute trip from nashville

I don't see many sport quads. Whats it like there for sport quads. Looks pretty rough.

i spent a whole day there on my 400ex. There are tons of sport quads there. It was fun to get wide open on some of the wide roads, but it was a lot of fun to get on the more techincal stuff. I rode with 4 other guys, all of them on utilities, and i stayed with them all day long. I was challenged, but i made it through everything and had a ton of fun. You just gotta stay on the clutch (a rekluse would be great here) in some spots, and your swingarm skid will scrape every now and then. It was challenging, but still a lot of fun.

There are a lot of Utes but a Sport ATV would be a blast too. We had a few that rode with us this summer and well all had fun. Skid plates are a good idea. They have 72,000 acres to ride on but only about 4,000 acres are marked and mapped with 400 miles of trails. They are endless that aren’t marked and mapped. They say you can ride all the way to Virginia and Southern Kentucky on trails.

If you have been to Hatfield and McCoy, Windrock blows it away for technical trails. The only thing I like better about Hatfield and McCoy is that it is mapped better. If you want to you can take night ride and you don't have to trailer to a new trail head it is all in one spot.

well said! I havent been to hatfield and mccoy yet, but we are planning a summer trip up there. For the most part if we arent riding on my farm we are at windrock. It honestly keeps going on forever, there is something for everyone.

did you try that trail that goes down the left side of the parking lot? Like instead of going straight up the road to the top of the mountain, you make a left and go over a bridge right after leaving the parking lot. That was the most fun trail there.

Yeah I think so?? Is that the trail with all the jumps going up it?? There is also a huge hill on the back side that we came down.. I wanted to go back up it but the others I was riding with didn't want anything to do with it...

no way man...if you're near clarksville it should take about an hour to get to nashville. We do it in about 2 and a half hours from nashvilile- so it should be around 3.5 for you...anyway yeah you could meet us in Nashville and go from there.

We should be going that way in the 2nd week of december...you available that week?

hahaha yeah the guys i ride with are completely opposite...they just wont stop..it gets annoying sometimes. but they all ride utilities i could use someone else on a sport quad to ride with...

All the guys I ride with are sport Quads... but when we went to WindRock we carried a couple of Utilitys...they kept wanting to play in the Mud???:D

I live about five minutes away from it I ride 250R and their is alot more than fire roads.Those were actually rodes to haul coal for years the roads you'll road trucks can use there are way better trails besides the gravel that connects the trails. Bittercreek and Gobie are with 30miles of winrock are also excellent but not beginners or novice.
