250x/300ex wiring harness ?

i have a 250x now and im buyin a 300ex motor, and should i just buy a 300ex wiring harness or can i tinker with the 250x? Do i have to have a key, or can i just use the kill switch like on the 250x?

you're gonna need the whole thing, the wiring harnesses from the 250 to 300 are TOTALLY different.

yeah i figured since the starter selenoid(sp) n such. Do i still have to have a key? how are u guys doin it without the handle bar console thing? thanks

i made a piece of stainless steel that goes where your headlight bolts go trough and it holds your revers neutral and key and keeps all of your wires nice and together instead of all over the place it took like 4 hours to make my first one but sicne thehn i have made 9 motre for my friends quads to keep them from drilling into their plastic

i just completly did away with the key... all it is is two wires holding it...unhook them and i have them hooked to gether and it works fine....but thats a 250x im pretty sure out_sider has his the same way on his 300

if you do it like that with the 2 wires plugged toegther ur cdi will always be pullin some power out of your baddery because you will never be able to turn your atv off but my idea was just a suggestion

the wiring is totally different and if u don't have a key, when ur bike sits the battery will go dead
