Has anyone got the new atv action mag . they do a test on the new 2005 z400 . That thing is way better than the 400ex now . with all the new stuff they did to it like 37mm mikuni carb with a throttle position sensor replace last years white bread 36mm mikuni mixer, A new can profile which suzuki claims increases power output, Fully adustable piggyback reservoir front shocks replace last years preload-adjustable non-reservoir shocks,Increased teh number of clutch drive plates from eight t onine for a claimed improvement in feel ,Weight reduction via an aluminum shifter, plus a magnesium being used for the clutch valve and ignition covers,New aluminum front bumper and rear grab bar , so all of u suzuki owners trade in ur old one and get the new 2005 , dont get me wrong i love ridin red and always will

they said it was better then the 400ex because all honda did was add reverse which the z400 allready has i rode one of the 04's and it was a little bit diff then the ex but not much . i wonder what hondas doin in 06 hmmm

Things like the shifter you dont sacrifice for weight reduction. And they dont "lie" they just overly endorse products to make them seem better then they are.

yea they do that to every quad like if it was a test on the 400ex it would be the same way if they had updated more than reverse

The 05 400 EX actually has a carb upgrade in size. And a few other things.

I just tested both at rausch creek this past weekend.

Out of the box the Z400/KFX400 is hands down better on the track and in the woods, better shifts, better front suspension, less arse bucking over choppy stuff, gobs more power on tap and steering on the z400 is so nuetral it feels like power steering.

We had both the 2005 KFX and 2005 400EX. I would still say the EX is more bulletproof in design.

The 400EX didnt like to be shifted under power at all and I was suprised how much you had to let off to get it to shift without the clutch.

Well I supose you'd have to pay someone to say a z400 with new fully adjustable shocks, new carb and cams, new clutch and other items is better than a 400ex that has reverse and more weight.

Reason I went with honda is because I have always ridden hondas and they are very reliable for what I do thats what I need more than shocks with rezzies and a 37mm carb.

But, I did consider looking at suzukis, but never having owned one I didn't know how reliable they were, i'm quite happy with my 400ex, but if you want more performance out of the box the Z400 is a better quad, but you sacrifice some stuff to get that stuff also.

I bought a 400 when the Z first came out, there wasn't much else to choose from and at the time.
I like my 400, but a Z has way more potential.
I mean .. with my motor work I have .. I can hang with a STOCK 450r, not much else, the yfzs kill me.

You are correct sir! The Z400 did feel a little taller than the 400EX, but handling was good, power was better. I still can't believe that Suzuki put the same stupid chain adjuster on the swingarm that caused me to buy a new swingarm for my LT! :grr:

they are not crappy by any means. maybe for tt they suck but not for moto cross and freestyle. they are way better than the z's last ones. now they were crap i killed the z 400 broke everything on it frame, swing arm, bent sub frame, ect. te yfz;s shocks are impressive from what ive seen. and i have another yfz with elka zp long travels quad rates that i havent ridden but i cant wait to see the difference.

to be honest, at our local track all you see is the z400's being towed having eletrical problems, carb problems, frame problems, i do like the z and i think it is better then the 400ex, but i would rather ride something that is reliable and doesnt need a new frame every race -doug gust- but im not dissing him or the suzuki, but why do they need a new frame every race? somethings gotta give there..

u would figure with all of the gusseting they can do to dougs machine u wouldnt think it wouldn't break. i raced fine with my yfz i was the only guy in b class riding a stock machine doing the triple. i did damn good on a stock machine when every one else was on modded ones.
