I was thinking of getting a Sparks ignition setup, does anyone have one. I know the price is high but I have heard some good things. Is it much different than the stock CRF ignition?

It is the stock CRF ignition. The flywheel and the stator cover have to modded for it to work.

What modifications are needed to be done, is it just some machining or is it alot of work? Is the power difference very noticeable?

Can you keep the lights?

There is no way to use lights unless you buy the stator from Ricky stator. There is quiet a bit of machine work to the flywheel and a little bit to the stator cover and you have to have the stator backing plate. It makes a good differance in seat of the pants power it does not even feel like the same bike. Dyno it make about 3 hp. but the throttle response it way better and forget about hitting the rev limiter. For a serious MX rider it definitely something to thing to think about.

this sounds like the same thing as team racers edge ignition system. if so its $200 less then the sparks.

check them out at teamracersedge.com, they do JOE BYRDs motors

JH Racing also has a kit out that is under $600 for everything that is needed.

Yes he does he has alot of local sources for motor work. I will be getting port and polishing done through him on my bike in the next month or two. I have been buying ALOT of parts from him and even drove down 3.5 hrs to meet the guy and see his shop. VERY nice guy and has some SICK bikes of his own there!!

Yes he does motor work. He built my 450R motor and did some motor work to my 310R also. He has my quad right now for powdercoat and gusset work. He's built several TRX motors already and all have pushed good HP #s. Great guy to deal with, knows what works.

I know you can get the stator and flywheel setup from Ricky Stator for 250, and then you can send it to JH for modification. You then will have lights. Question is anyone going to do something with CRF450X ignition (which comes stock with lights).
