what kind of racing are you doing? there both great and really great and you wont go wrong w/ either choice. the blasster has a more fun motor and has potential for way more hp than a 300 does, but 300's ride a little smoother, your choice, i chose fun, so i sold my 300ex and bought a blaster

Well my son rides both flattracking & he likes the blaster better for the power :)

Definetly a 300ex. But, I am a 4-stroke person!! But then again, shouldn't you be 16yo to race?

No not necessarily :) my son is 14 & races my 300, his blaster, & a YFZ450:blah: this year lucky kid!! Actaully he's retiring his blaster for the winter & just running the 4 strokes(he likes them) but he already misses his blaster & he's only missed one race w/ it LOL I figured that would happen though!!

16 to race? wow, I guess my boy at 5 is a bit young according to you huh? If kids need to be 16 to race, why are there peewee classes all over the United States?

I think you do have to be 16 to race a 300ex though.

Yes you do in sanctioned races I think, which i think DJ would still have to race his 90 :eek2: if he ran them, now he'd look a little funny out there on it hehhe, he'd be hanging his leg out & probably touching the rider next to him w/ it LMAO :)
Heck you can stick a 7 yr old on a blaster out here  seen it done STUPID PARENTS!!! Then they get mad when they get BEAT

Sorry, I didn't mean to race in general, it was ment towards the Blaster / 300 ex comment. In D6, they are pretty strick, exspecially when it comes down to points if you are doing good. They usually go by age and motor size. I ended up racing my 80cc till I was 16yo. Grant it, it wasn't comfortable, but I didn't have a choice.

I have seen it done too. I kinda wonder how they can shift, and stop when they can't touch the foot pegs. LOL

Are there age rules for non-sanctioned races? I could just see my 10 year old son racing my 300ex. :eek2:

i OWN both, and i like my 300ex alot better. i owned the blaster bout a year before i bought the 300 and it was a much needed change. i think the 300 has a much funner motor, even when my blaster had the pipes on it couldnt flat-land the way my 300 can. as for racing the ex is much more stable over jumps and through the whoops, but the blaster can keep right up. me and my dad drag them all the time (blaster w/out the pipes) and the ex will consistently pull ahead after about 3rd-4th gear, but then in the top of 5th the blaster will start to creep back up. if i were track racing (where stability, lowend power, and handling really come into effect) i would def. take the 300ex. but for flat track and drag racing (where the quick-revving, high-winding, top-end oriented engine would come in handy) i would take the blaster. its all about u and how u feel on them so go with which ever takes u where u wanna go.

I beg to differ!!! the 300 ex with K&N and a full x-4 exhaust jetted correctly will undoubtably BURN a piped blaster with the same air filter and quality jetting each and every time. the ex has 17hp stock as where the blaster has 13. and you gain more hp with adding a pipe to the 300ex compared to the blaster where you will gain what, MAYBE 1.5? If you put a cam stiff valve springs and 330 bore kit in the 300, you will be pushing 35 hp easy. you will be lucky to get 20 or so with that much money in a blaster. I hope I rang some of your bells and woke you up!

lol, for dollar wise the blaster can be moded to have more hp for less money than the 300ex would take, sorry bud i have rode on both and the blaster actually is a good machine a little under rated but will take out a 300ex with ease with a little bit of money invested into the blaster

all your info is backwards!blasters have 17 hp stock and 300ex's are around 13. according to lrd dyno's at the louisville expo show the blaster has 17 stock and 25 with thier pipe.

and there isnt a 330 out there with 35 horsepower. my 350 big bore built by gtunder had 30 and it had everything you can do, so i doubt you would get 5 more horse with 20 less cc. also, look at blaster 240 kits, 40 horsepower all day long

lets not forget that the blaster wieghts less then the 300ex. so if you have = weight with riders then the blaser would have it. the only bad thing about the blaster was its brakes nand now they have fixed that.

Bradley is right look at the GNCC sport class
both bikes can win it, its all about which one you can ride best

(its the rider not the bike) both bike can finish in the top 80's overall in gncc so it all up to you :)

i think for ama it is 14-15? year old for 300 youth production but limited to 300cc, after that you must be 16 to ride anything over 300cc, someone correct me if i am wrong though.

For AMA yeah u have to be 16 to race a blaster or a 300ex but for most other tracks u dont have to be 16 u can be any where from 12 to 110 years old beacuse last night i raced at salem arenacross against my friend on a blaster and we are both 13 .
