What is the easiest way to make my bike earier to start in the winter time?Down here in nova scotia it gets below -25.i'm running the hrc kit with the fmf factory 4 full system, what jet should i be using at 1000 feet above sea level? also what clip should the needle be set at?pilot jet?

the best way it to go one size bigger on the pilot jet. As for the needle and main jet it depends how it runs. it has nothing to do with starting.

If it was starting fine in warm weather I would just pump the throttle a few times then start it.

if you pump the trottle on a 450R it will kick back and brake the case

don't touch the gas

I meant pump it before you kick it. It sprays gas into the cylinder just like pumping the gas on a car that has a carb.

if you pump it before if will make the kick starter kick back when you try to start.

Nope, I've probably started mine like this over 100 times and it has never kicked back one time. Makes cold starting a lot easier. All you're doing is adding more fuel, same thing you do when you put the choke on.

And I think there has only been 2 450's that have broken the case and now everyone acts like it happens all the time.

This only can happen when pumping the gas during kicking. Pumping it before won't cause this to happen and actually helps cold starts.

i was told on thumper talk to twist the gas like 2-4 times on my old CRF......choke it...and kick.

well i tried it on the 450r and it works.

b4 even touching the kicker.... hit the throttle 2 times really quick then let go of the throttle......and put choke on and kick.
should start faster that way.

Another thing: If it has sat for even a few weeks, drain the float bowl!

This is a problem with any quad or bike. Just last night I went to kick over both my XR400 and 450R after they've sat about 3-4 weeks. Neither would even sputter until I drained the bowl, then they fired on the very next kick.
