"Brake Block Off Plate"

I see that some people have listed this in their mod section and I am curious.....

What does this mean and what does it do?

Sorry, another darn Newbie question! What benefits does it have?

Thanks

Eliminates the parking brake assembly, which is very prone to dragging, and wearing out your brake pads prematurely. Simple, low cost fix, and it eliminates some pieces most of us never use. I know it is the same with the 300ex and 400ex, but I haven't seen a 250ex to know if it's the same or not.

And we were all a newbie at some point...

It's a small plate that covers the hole left on the backside of your rear brake caliper when you remove the paring brake assy..this eliminates some usless hardware, and allows you to get a aftermarket clutch perch as well.

Heres a pic of what it will look like when you are done, and give you an idea of what you are pulling off.

Sounds like a great idea to me. The parking brake seems useless as it is! Even with the darn thing engaged, I can still move it around! First gear is sufficient for me as a parking brake! So, I am assuming that when the parking brake is removed, you have to have a plate to cover the hole left over. Is there a kit that can be purchased for this?

Thanks

Check here Chozen Performance (http://www.chozenperformance.com)

Go look at your rear brake, then look at Deathbringer's pic again. Should be pretty obvious at that point. It's a piece of cake. Probably cost you about $20. Block off plate is about $10, and you can get a CR perch and lever from Marcum's for $8 total. I know, I just had to replace mine.

Scott were did you get a CR Perch and Lever for $8? It says like 30 on Marcums.

No, give them a call. I just got a polished aluminum CR perch and polished aluminum lever from them. The perch was $3.50 and the lever was $3.75, both made by Emgo, which I'd bet is the same oil filter most of us are using.

Check out the link I gave you above.. the one you see on my bike was from them... They also have a simpler design... and they are $12.95 or $14.95 depending..

I can take a look at mine tonoght, but it sounds like you're talking about wires for a rev limiter for the parking brake. I remember disconnecting it on my wife's 4x4, but I'd have to take a look at my 300 to be sure.

you have two choices
-soldier/crimp/twist them together and tuck them away somewhere (i pulled my light switch pod apart and stuffed them in there)
- tape them seperately and tuck them somewhere

If you connect the wires, you will be able to start the quat IN GEAR, weither the clutch is pulled in OR NOT. If you don't connect the wires, you must have it in neutral. Either way is up to you. Most people elect to connect the wires. That way, if you stall in the middle of riding, you don't have to fuss with finding neutral.

Yeah, that rings a bell. I cut the wires off the switch and spliced them together so that no matter what you're doing, if you hit the button, the starter cranks the engine.

The wires go into the switch on the clutch lever with 2 plugs. Pull them out and you can stick a piece of metal between them and push them together, then if you ever want to put the parking brake back on, you can.

Yes I did.... and yes it just bolts right on.. They send with it some hex style bolts...so they are harder to steal if someone was just walking around with a screwdriver and pulling parts off bikes.
I will take a picture and post it so you can see what it looks like.. I also have the gas cap they make and that thing F**King rocks... no more hose hanging around...it is hard to tell from the picture but it vents around the edge of the top of the cap...very very cool.
I will take a picture of the whole thing tonight when I get home and post it for you on this thread.
