hey everyone i need ur help. I bought a JE piston and i am boring my 400ex out to a 416ex and i am putting in the hotcam stg 2. i was told that when u bore it out that much it will make it run alot hotter and the pistons will wear out alot faster because of the extra engine heat. also would getting some air scoops help at keeping the temp down at all. thanks. someone let me know if u have had any problems with any of that.

I never had a problem with my 416 getting to hot. And yes airscoops will help with the heat. Try a cooler plug also, and make sure you are jetter properly. An oversized oil tank and a larger cooler with help also, but that is where the big $ comes in;)

also so this isn't something that should wear out real fast and cause me to have to replace my pistons again in a year or so? all i do is trail ride pretty much. not racing or anything

as long as it is assembled correctly and you cange the oil and clean the airfilter frequently this will last for quiet a while mine is going on 4 years (keep in mind I don't ride everyweekend :)
