Ok, i have had a 300ex for like 2.5 years now, and i am about to sell it and buy a 2003 z400 , i found one, a lil ruff localy for $2800, witch is a steal...so as soon as i sell mine im buying it, and i was just wondering how are they? ive never rode one before, but ive rode like everything else (400ex,raptor,450r,warrior ect) Ive heard taht they feel kinda tipsy like a raptor, they jump well, and there pretty quick.....is this right, and is there anything else i should know about it? also how is the chain adjustment setup, and any info on radiator matnence.... thanks, all help is really apreaciated

I haven't ridden a rappy, but the Z400, IMO, does NOT feel tipsy. I like the handling of my 400ex a little bit better, but I think the Z400 handles nice.

Dunno about big air, but they are great, IMO, at jumping the smaller stuff.

Yes, they are pretty quick, but not like a 250cc MX dirtbike.

LOL, the chain adjuster will make you miss your Honda.

The DOHC Suzuki motor sounds less strained at high RPM.
None of that classic SOHC Honda sound at High RPM.

Later,

I got 2. They are pretty stable and quick. It does have reverse. Big air? You had better get yourself some good shocks because the stock ones will bottom out for sure. I weigh about 225 and have the presets turned all the up and it still bottoms out. I did take it to Colorado this year and it handled well in the Mountains so the machine does have good qualities. If you want something thats lower, more stable, and doesn't bottom out get a YFZ. Right out of the box ready. Good luck

There is a couple bolts to loosen on the back of the swing arm. No big deal. It looks like you have a 300 ex already. Thats a fine machine. Why not just keep that? The z400 has much more power but there are plenty of things you could do to the 300 and still have a lot of fun with it. The best thing I like about the Z400 over the 400 EX is it has reverse. If your also looking for smaller jumping the Z's stock setup will work just fine for you. Both of my machines are still stock. I would like to buy a set of Elkas for it but can't stomach the 800 dollar price tag. If I want to jump High I ride my CR 125. I got a couple pics of my machines in my shop.
