Brand new 2004 400ex

I just bought a brand new 400ex. On the first ride I noticed a ticking noise is this normal? Please any suggestions what to expect during breakin period would be greatly appreciated.

a ticking noise is normal on four strokes because of the valve train.

that sounds like valves to me,after the first tank of gas,i would get the valves seated properly and adjusted,if you don't no how to do it,go to your dealer and let them do it,then once you get it back take it easy for about a half a tank of gas,then open her up a lil more on the last half of the tank,after that let her fly:devil:

get your valves adjusted after about 10 tanks of gas

when u get ur quad (new) get them done . and then every 15 tanks get them reajusted my 2cents:ermm:
