Blasters

I might be getting a blaster, or trying to find a used one, anyone have any flaws or problems with them? im about 5'7 im kinda worried id be too big, what do u guys think? id go with a 400 or 300 if we had the money but the money tree isnt doin so well..

blasters are for pussies! j/k but i would stay with your cr80 before i got a blaster. but i havent heard of anything rong with them. except they aint got great shocks.

im not a fan of blasters, but with some mods, they are fun as hell to mess around on

Save your money and drop the Blaster idea. If you are a 12 year old midget they might be fun. Dead serious, a stock Blaster is ungodly horrible in every possible way. Pipe it out, still pretty bad. After about a few thousand in suspension and engine modifications, they fit my standards for an OK quad. That is comparing to a stock 400ex:o .

I'm sorry, but I hate Blasters so much...a friend of mine has one and it is nothing but a piece of crap, he's got a lot of money into it and I still hate riding it. When I'm on it I feel so cramped I can't believe he feels comfortable on it, also when I get back on my 400ex it feels so much more powerful with just a slip-on pipe.

for your size, you will love a blaster. your best bet is to buy a 2003 model or newer since they have the hydro brakes. the stock shocks do suck, and you will probably want to get rid of the oil injector before it quits and blow the motor.

everyone that is saying they are slow and unreliable is dead wrong. mine has a pipe and air filter and would give a 330ex a run for its money ( i know, because i had a 350ex that smoked 330's) and its been the most reliable quad ive had. keep up on the maintenance and it wont let you down. it will only treat you as good as you treat it

thanks for the replys, i think im going to try and keep the cr and get a blaster or 300ex if im lucky a 400ex, ive ridden a blaster before and it felt kinda small but o well its better then not havin a quad :)

josh i would not get a blaster in your position my friend had 1 with pipe nerfs everything u could possibly do except suspension and a arms he beat it like i used to beat my 250 uve seen pics lol and the thing was just a basket case i dunno if it was he had bad luck and got a lemon but i would not buy 1 my 2 cents

Just stating my honest opinion, and this isn't a biased opinion because I have ridden a Blaster...I don't go by what other people say or think.

A Blaster could NEVER smoke a 450R, plain and simple. The guy on the 450R would have to be a horrible rider, asbolutely horrible to be beat by the Blaster. And for a drag, a Blaster could only take on a 450R if it had a different engine it.

you have not done much resaerch on blasters i assume? all 240 kits push about 42 horse, wich is right at stock 450r power, not to mention a blasty is quite a bit lighter. who cares anyway tho, its all rider, i passed a 450r on the mx track at the 12 hours on a damn kymco250

Please do a little research before you post. If 4-strokes are so much more faster than 4-strokes, why are they letting 250cc 4-strokes in the 125cc 2-stroke class, or 450cc 4-strokes in the 250cc 2-stroke?:cool:

Well, I'm glad you never got a Blaster.

Whoever thinks Blasters can be made into something have something wrong with them.

A friend of mine has a completely modded out Blaster and I can absolutely waste him with my 400ex...which just has a slip-on exhaust. It's not rider either, he's pretty damn good at riding.

haha.... you beat me on dirt, which is pretty easy when you have a broad powerband that doesnt spin like crazy on that loose gravel (dirt road), and you have an extra 80lbs helping to get power to the ground. i think you need to tell them what happend when we got on tar... or maybe you werent on your throttle the whole way?:rolleyes: a blaster couldnt be made to compete with a 450r? ha, sure it can.. but it wouldnt be worth it. they are making blasters with 50hp and counting. thats about .16hp/lb, where as my blaster is making close to .1hp/lb.... i like those ratios, its all about what you want to ride, hell yeah 450r's are awesome and can smoke most blasters with ease... i would hope so, but 400's are an easy target, but once they start getting some heavy mods into them we cant touch them... oh well, i like throwing it around.

make sure you get the frame gusseted(weak in some places), the stock shocks suck balls, ditch the stock headlight unless you got an 03+ modell, flip the front rims to help make it more balanced, ditch oil injector, and possibly cut the front fenders ... just cause i think they look better like that

Theres a vid out there of a 2001 mild ported, stock carb, toomey pipe, not even jetted right blaster waxing a stock 400ex.

Wasting Waxing all the same thing.

I've ridden a 400ex and hate there power, although i have never ridden a blaster, lol.
