I have a pocket full of cash that is burning a whole so big, its about to fall out...lol...I need you're opinions guys about the Raptor.

I just sold my 400ex this weekend and now have enough money to buy a new quad, I am looking at Raptors..

Here is what I want:

Reverse!!!!

Thats the main thing, I want reverse. I am getting older and I am tiried of getting off to push my quad out of a tight spot.

Which would be the better choice a Raptor or a Z400 ???

Any opinions?

I would get the Raptor simply because they run pretty well stock but it takes NOTHING to get quite a bit of power of them. I don't know of too many other quads where you can get an average of 9hp increase across the rpm range with just a pipe and jet. :eek2:

Depends on what your ride:

casual trail = about equal
trail racing = Z400
dunes = Raptor
MX = Z400
drag racing = Raptor

Having rode both of these, I would say they ride very similar but the Raptor is a bit more tipsy but has a bit more power.

Raptor - if you get the Z you will want more power immediately - I mean....it won't be much different than your old 400ex, except it will have reverse. I'd want the Raptor just to make riding fun again!! Nothing wrong with 660cc's!!! :)

z 400, better handling and with a pipe and filter they wake up quite a bit

I think I am going to go buy this one today. The owner just agreed to take $4000 for it. What do you guys think?

Well I went and rode it today, but I left it there. The motor had a slight tap in it that wasnt valves or cam chain, it was deeper towards the bottom. The clutch wanted to pull even with the lever pulled in. It wasnt the adjustment either, I put some slack in the cable but it still was grabbing. The kid said he just put the hinson clutch basket in it too, and he did it himself. That part scared me. And when I tried putting it in reverse, it was very hard going in. In fact, I couldnt do it, finally, he tried it and had a heck of a time doing it also. When it finally DID go in reverse, it "clunked" really loud. Over all, it just gave me a bad vibe and was afraid to buy it. Save for the fact that he had a boat load of money wrapped up in it. I wish that it was tight because I would have snagged it right up...Oh well...Anyone know of any Raptors or Z400's for sale in the area?;)
